    Vientiane is a good place to have a night in between...

    Vientiane is a good place to have a night in between travelling via the trains. Sticky fingers is a nice cafe to eat and you can get around easily on tuktuks there. Recommend only a day as Luang Prabang is amazing and you won't want to leave.

    Nice and clean.

    Nice and clean. Local Food at the night markets along the Mekong is relatively expensive. I suppose we were at the tourists food stalls. As for the tok tok, whilst there are prices printed on a laminated A4 it appeared high and open to negotiations. Can Laos tourist authorities ensure fixed reasonable prices. Bus fares are very reasonable and affordable. However there appeared a big discrepancy for bus fare from Vienteine Bus station to Friendship bridge (longer journey and inexpensive) compared to Bus service crossing the bridge which is so much shorter journey but so much higher in fares.

    30 years ago I was last time im Vientiane. In the meantime it has become a monster of roads, concrete and glass -fronts, just like Bangkok it has now emerged into a meaningless Chinese city.: Asians want to be Europeans who came down from Tibet many years back.

    First time traveler, do stay in the city center, suggest Apollo hotel, you just need to visit 4 sites, Wat Siseket, Victory Monument, Pha That Luang (stupa) and That Dam Black stupa. (I posted all photos in my Tiktok, FYI)

    The immigration authority have harassed me interrogating all...

    The immigration authority have harassed me interrogating all nonsense, spoiling country's image. GoL need to think on it. They detained me for about an hour and asked me to deposit US$500 and asked me to collect during the day of departure. I got it back during my stay there as I have visited them with locals who can speak there language.

    A lovely relaxing laid back city much like chiang mai, thailand. Not much in terms of nightlife - go krungthep if you want busy nightlife! Mainly monuments, Wats, museums & markets - if that is your thing... the vientienne art museum is amazing for a taste of intricate Lao wood carvings on display. Recommend to stay in central tourist area close to river and night market which caters well for foreigners. I stayed in chanthapanya hotel which was excellent location. Vientienne is still in process of development with lots of constructions in progress.

    Great location in Vientiane, just by the nightmarket but on a quiet street so no noise. The main restaurant streets are also parallel. Hotel has obviously been newly done up, bedding was immaculate, bathroom is modern and big enough the shower didn't soak the toilet. Smart tv in room and comfier bed than most in Laos. Breakfast had enough choice to get by though not a la carte.

    We have staying here for 1 night but i am extend 3 night more . We have 1 month in laos and i have stayed many hotel and hostel . We dont need very amazing hotel same like 5star but this homestay they have 5star service , with cheapert same like hotel . really we are supprine . They have breakfast and swimming pool , staff helpful and can speak english very well . Reommend

    One of the more modern hostels I’ve stayed in Laos. The bed felt more like a hotel bed. I saw them cleaning quite often so felt comfortable not wearing slippers (they have signs asking you not to wear slippers anyways). Breakfast was pretty good with a side salad and fruit. 5 min walk to the food night market so location is great. There’s a big C mart nearby too.

    Breakfast was really nice and the best hotel breakfast we had in Laos. The pool was really nice and perfect after a hot day. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Also, the laundry service was cheap and very convenient and our clothes were washed very well. Best hotel we stayed at in Laos.

    This is probably one of the best hotels in laos , usually hotels have small and limited spaces but here the space and rooms are very spacious and comfortable , good mattress , clean . staff are extremely helpful and friendly.
