Hiriketiya was a great spot with beautiful beaches and plenty of energy. There are lots of people surfing, which gives the beach a lively vibe, even though we didn’t surf ourselves. The food scene was really enjoyable - Smoke & Bitters was definitely worth a visit, even if it’s on the pricier side. Great to enjoy the sea and the beach which was nice and calm but also had waves further away for the surfers. The cocktail bars on the beach really add a lot to this location as opposed to many other beaches in Sri Lanka. Some of the restaurant's had some super dishes which were a real fusion of east and west. Hiriketiya is a beautiful spot on the south coast of Sri Lanka. I would recommend checking out the beach in Dickwella if you're looking to escape the surf schools that dominate Hiri beach. Really enjoyed the different restaurants and bars in the area. Fantastic seafood and delicious breakfast options.
