It's perfectly located for Yala National Park safaris, offering easy access to incredible wildlife encounters. Beyond the safaris, the town itself has a calm, local vibe with beautiful lakes and ancient temples to discover. You'll find plenty of local restaurants and shops, making it easy to enjoy authentic Sri Lankan experiences. The owner of Serenity lake advices us to visit Yala safari, Sithul pawwa magul viharaya and sithul pawwa a super history with beautiful scenery, which we did and we're very grateful for his advice. We returned to the serenity lake to have lunch before heading off. Requested for a village kind of lunch with the local veggies and it was served on a lotus leaf... The most delicious meal it was. The location is excellent and the resort is real value for money . The food was excellent . The rooms were nice . The toiletries in the bathrooms needs to improve . The bathroom needs exhaust fans as it can get quite stuffy . The resort manager Mr Upal is a nice friendly bloke and is exceptional in his service . This is a great location to stay if you want to visit the national parks and My Village will organise safaris to the four parks in the area either a half or full day. Was in Tissamaharama for Yala Safari, had booked the early morning Safari. Disappointed with the Safari as there were very few animals except.for.peacocks and spotted dear. Later into the ride our jeep driver and guide revealed we had entered through block 5 of the Safari and most the animals(Leopard, Bears) mostly are sighted in block 1 and 2. Block 1 and 2 were closed that day, maybe just our luck. So I guess check, with the Safari organizer before booking your safari as it quite expensive. We came from Arugambay and the hotel arranged a taxi for us at a very reasonable price. The staff is very good. They also prepared a very delicious dinner for us. They gave us their own jeep to go on safari the next morning. They have a very good driver and a comfortable new jeep. We saw a lot of animals including Leopard .We went on a private full day safari.If you want to see a lot of animals, it is best to go on a full day safari. The shower was hot and the best we had in Sri Lanka in our first week, Breakfast was amazing especially the Dhal. Shantha the host was easy to communicate with and arranged our tour of Yala and our ongoing transport to Tangelle at a very fair price. The room was extremely spacious, well furnished and cleaned every morning. The decor was beautiful and the food at the restaurant was also good. The pool was very calming. We were also able to arrange a safari which picked us up outside of the hotel. The hosts prepared a picnic breakfast for us to take which was so helpful.
