I had a fantastic 7-day stay at Villa Rumassala—and I loved it so much that I extended my visit by another 10 days. I was based there while completing a medical elective at a nearby hospital, and the villa offered the perfect balance of comfort and tranquillity. Tucked away from the main road, it felt like a peaceful retreat, complete with a serene pool and fresh towels provided daily. The Villas are located about 15 min walk from the main Unawatuna beach and shopping/food area or a short tuktuk ride to Jungle beach (unless you're ok with walking up some steep hills!). The rooms were spacious, exceptionally comfortable, and featured modern, spotless bathrooms. I particularly appreciated the communal kitchen area, which included a kettle and a washing machine—small touches that made a big difference during a longer stay. There was 24/7 security, making me feel safe throughout my stay. There was also a small gym that was open 24/7, however it did not have aircon which might put people off using in the Sri Lankan heat! What truly made my time unforgettable was the staff. They were incredibly warm and welcoming, always making sure I had everything I needed. I was even invited to join in the Sinhala New Year celebrations—a beautiful and memorable experience. A special thank you to Sasini, whose kindness and attention to detail ensured I was comfortable throughout my stay.

Everything was even better than in the pictures. As a person who likes to be closer to nature, I loved this place, because everything was so green. It really felt like a green escape. Hotel Manager Ranjith went above and beyond in helping me during my trip. I had an issue where I thought I lost my scooter in the middle of the night. Ranjith and his team came to my rescue, they were very kind and comforting the whole time. The service was outstanding and is the biggest reason for the 10 rating. Hotel is rather secluded. Take in one of the best views of Galle Fort and the Bay. Enjoy the sunset from the rooftop bar, deck chairs, and infinity pool. Room was excellent: clean, spacious, and modern. Hey, what do you scent all the towels with? They smell amazing.

    All sea view rooms and the room we stayed in was very spacious . A few minutes walk to jungle beach. The staff was friendly and even made arrangements to get our meals sorted. There is a kitchen and if we bring the raw materials we can even cook on our own , just need to pay them for the space we use. Over all I enjoyed unwatuna because it was conveniently located too.

    Great place to go we stayed three nights I would stay less. Slightly more expensive than Mirrisa and the tourist are mainly Russian. Turtle beach is great. Recommend as best place to see turtles for free .

    Sadly not a lot to do here. Restaurants menus are similar where ever you choose to eat. Shopping is limited. Beach was good and fairly clean. A weekend (2 nights) would've been plenty of time to spend in Ulawatuna. Lots of tuk tuks around but constantly pestered being asked if I needed one. Lots of people selling things on the beach, some are very persistent. Also had people approach begging for money. 1 followed me for 5 minutes and kept trying to grab my arm.

    Unawatana has a splendid beach.

    Unawatana has a splendid beach. There are lots of places to stay and eat. We ate in 2 good places, one on the beach with varied food, mostly fish, very good and one Sri Lankan food which was great A downside is that behind the beach is a bit of a shop/cafe/rooms strip. But you don’t have to go there

    Unawatuna has a long and beautiful white sand beach and a turquoise blue sea. It's a good base for those wishing to visit attractions in southern sri lanka (national parks/tea plantations etc.), but is not very lively in terms of nightlife, and I was surprised to find around 80% of other tourists were Russianr.

    Unawatuna beach is a nice beach behind a reef with turtles swimming and snorkeling. It has a narrow sand strip and at high tide the water comes up to the wall. there were a number of families, local and foreign with young children playing in the shallow part and feeding the turtles. There are a number of restaurants along the beach.

    perfect boutique hotel with a private beach if you want to feel the heaven on earth. staff was excellent, so helpful and always smiling. there is no music when you rest in the beach. so you get the best sunbathing and relaxing atmosphere. breakfast and dinner was awesome. the best we ate in all Sri Lanka.
