Great location, just around the corner from the medina. We had a brilliant room, spacious, warm, and fine view of Fes. The staff couldn't have been more helpful. The breakfasts were wonderful and the trip they organised was perfect on a cold day. Cannot recommend it enough.

Staying at Riad Jnane Fes Medina & Luxury Palace was one of the highlights of my trip to fez. The riad itself is stunning , a perfect blend of traditional Moroccan charm and modern comfort. But what made the stay truly special was the staff. Kenza welcomed us with the warmest smile and made me feel at home immediatly. Mostapha was equally wonderful --always attentive , and ready to help with anything i needed ,from directions to recommandations. Thanks to them, my time in fez felt effortless and memorable. Highly recommend this riad to anyone visiting the city.

Our stay at Riad Serendipity was simply wonderful! From the moment we arrived, we felt completely at home. Sebastian, Nazha, and Selma were incredibly kind and welcoming — their hospitality made all the difference. The breakfast was delicious, fresh, and full of local flavors. A special thanks to Nazha Selma and Sebastian who took such great care of us and made every moment special. The riad has such a warm, familiar atmosphere, and the price–value ratio is excellent. We truly couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Highly recommended! + thank you to Adil who gave us a spin!

Exotic Arabic Maze

Fès is a kaleidoscope of colours, smells and sensations, and its intricate urban design is an allegory of its own identity. Live up to the pace of this ancient Babel, and go the whole hog immerging yourself into its 1001 Nights atmosphere. Check out the Booking.com hotel deals in fascinating Fès and enjoy!

Commonly spelled Fez, this city was Morocco’s capital during Middle Ages. The city was originally composed of two separate settlements located along the banks of the Jawhar River. Madinat Fas was founded in 789 by Idris I, while Al-'Aliya was founded by his son Idris II. Both towns grew autonomously until the Almoravids unified them in 1070 under the name ‘Fas’. The city is still considered a beacon of the Islamic civilisation, due to its ancient ‘madrasas’ Islamic colleges.

The Old Town or ‘medina’ has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, representing one of the best preserved historic centres in the world. The famous ‘riads’ or small traditional hotels are located in the medina, which is also called Fes Al-Bali.

The city can be reached through Fès Saïss Airport, or from the airports in Casablanca and Rabat via railway or bus connection. Whether you’re looking for a luxury hotel in Fez New Town or a historic ‘riad’ in the medina, don’t miss Booking.com’s wide offering!

I liked the most that Fes is a very traditional town with no many tourists. Has old medina better than Marrakech. I like this town vibe and authentically. I like is safe and with good people who always want to help.

The best of Fez, Morocco's artisan city, includes exploring the ancient, car-free medina to witness skilled artisans at work in traditional souks, visiting the famous Chouara Tannery to see leather goods production, and experiencing crafts like pottery, metalwork, and weaving. Visitors can also immerse themselves in local crafts through hands-on workshops or by shopping for unique, handmade goods, such as rugs, oils and spices at women-only cooperatives. The local food is great and also the cafe' and music concerts. I attended the Fez Festival of Sufi Culture and World Spirituality, an unforgettable, rich experience.

The most amazing city.

The most amazing city. Have been a number of times, and love the fact that I’m still finding places that I haven’t seen before. Especially loved the local markets, seeing the production of the embroidery that embellishes the beautiful clothes, and the sensory overload of the smells, sights, sounds and overall vibe. Can’t wait to be back.

Fes is a ghastly tourist trap.

Fes is a ghastly tourist trap. Two nights will be plenty if you must go but if you skip it then the sky will not fall.Meknes and Sale( near Rabat) would be less touristed esp. Sale` .I could have spent more time walking in the Atlas mountains. The chance of becoming over saturated with all Moorish markets , tiled palaces and ancient Madrassas is high in Urban Morocco. Get off the beaten path !! Fes is also very HOT. Don't go in the April to October period. Book a half day guided walking tour of the old city and then get out!

Fez is a fascinating city, full of life, commerce, and talented artisans. To appreciate Fez, come with an open-mind, ready to explore a world that in many ways hasn't changed in hundreds of years. A good guide can help you appreciate the history and beauty of some of the historic buildings (the medrasa, the tanneries, the oldest university), the quality of the handicrafts and the way of life of the people who make the medina their home. Visiting the Fez medina is an intense and rewarding experience.

Early September was the wrong time to go there (my mistake) - far too hot to be enjoyable. Getting around in the Medina was very difficult and sometimes frustrating. There one can easily fall into the trap of being accosted by self-styled guides who will take you to various shops and ask you for money at the end. Perhaps for an older traveller it would have been better to lodge outside the Medina and visit it from there with an official tour. On the positive side, some of the sites were very beautiful and the people mostly very friendly and helpful.
