Rincon is not for everyone. It is not in the least upscale.
Rincon is not for everyone. It is not in the least upscale. Most North American tourist were more than 60 years old. You will not make 'young' friends here. Almost everyone, including me, have been coming to Rincon for many years. It is a truly Mexican, beach town with many very comfortable, long stay hotels, most with kitchen option. The people of Rincon are exceptionally friendly in a authentic way. There are many other small beach town North and Soth of Rincon. When driving you will experience a lot of down and out poverty. Much un-controlled developement. Many areas are as bad as anything you will experience in Africa. But, I felt 100 % safe my 30 day stay there.Guest review byMichaelUnited States - 8.0

It's not scorching hot in Guayabitos - very comfortable for walking around. Everything in Guayabitos is within walking distance. There are shops galore and restaurants here are all terrific. Butchers, bakeries and fruit/veggie stores are fresh. The beach is massive, great for walking (not sloped) with room for thousands of people if need be. For non-swimmers, the water is easy to get in and out of. There are different inexpensive options to go visit nearby towns - taxi, bus or Colectivo. Guayabitos is not a spring break kind of town; mostly retirees and seems to be a safe community. Locals and vendors are not bothersome or pushy. The beach is the best I have seen in awhile. Flat and packed sand, easy to walk. The water is warm. Getting around is easy. We ate at a couple of the nearby restaurants, pleased with the food. We've been there several times, but the last time was 10 years ago and it has really grown. There are restaurants and shops everywhere now, so it's a bit more crowded. We always felt safe and there are many choices for places to eat and stay.Guest review byPat
