Alor Star is a pleasant regional centre with some fine...
Alor Star is a pleasant regional centre with some fine public buildings and an interesting old quarter. The open space in the centre of town with the Zahir mosque on one side and various royal buildings and museums on the other provides some excellent photo opportunities. There is a surprising amount of street art, some of it very good, and a pleasant canal-side walk starting in the centre of town. I came across an excellent night food market with stalls offering a range of local and international dishes. The Kedah Paddy Museum is billed as one of the attractions of Alor Setar, but I found it a bit disappointing. It is a long way out of town; if you don't have your own transport, getting a taxi or Grab back to the centre could be a lottery.Guest review byKarolUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Nice view & beautiful culture - Kuala Kedah beach/jetty, sawah padi, Keriang Hills, Sg.Kuala Muda, Pantai Merdeka & Jerai Hills Delicious local food. Fresh seafood, Hot & spicy is my favourite especially sambal belacan. perghh powerfull!! Shopping place - Padang Besar about 1.5km from Alor Setar, Pekan Rabu & Tanjung Dawai (ikan bilis,ikan masin,belacan,pekasam,etc) Tips : Do the listing of place and make a plan before you go there, sometimes mr google maps will bring you to unexpected way. its will bring you 5 to 6km sawah padi small road (just enough 1 car size) and you will be panic in the paddy bendang. :) :)Guest review byhafizahMalaysia
