Our car was broken in during the night and the hostess Corinne really went out of her way to support us altough we had already cheked out! She helped contacting the police, gave us refuge and even insisted on providing us with coffee for free while we sat there and tried to sort everything out! (Also the hotel is great, escpecially the location in the heart of Amersfoort) Thank you so much for your great hospitality and your kindness!

    Amersfoort is a small but very charming city.

    Amersfoort is a small but very charming city. If you are a fan of the painter Mondrian, it is a definite destination, as hi childhood home is now a very interesting museum dedicate to his life and work. That water-castle that always shows up on pictures of the town is somewhat misleading, on the pictures it looks like a castle but it's not very large. The canals are very charming ans you should definitely take one of the canal boat rides. The canal boat and the Mondrian house were the two high points of the visit.

    Amersfoort is a beautiful historic city.

    Amersfoort is a beautiful historic city. Shopping is great, lovely christmas decorations around town and a cute square with cafe's. We enjoyed a lunch at Broei - delicious vegan food. Also went to Petit Marie for dinner, French a la carte menu, absolutely fantastic service and here again delicious food. Getting around Amersfoort is easy, everything is pretty much walking distance.

    Lovely historic Centrum that's well-preserved, easy to explore on foot, and that one can truly absorb in a few days. The surrounding "new town" seems vibrant and nicely laid out, with plenty of areas to explore, walks to take, and things to do that could occupy many more days, with multiple return-visits to the Centrum to gaze at the architecture and eat and shop. Very happy that I took a little time to stop in, and would have loved to make it a base for exploring the surrounding area for an additional week (or more); noting that you can always hop the train for day-trips to surrounding towns. Alas, life was calling, and I had to move on...

    The city center was so cute!

    The city center was so cute! The street by the wall houses is a nice walk to take, so many picturesque houses! It is quite a small city so 1-2 days are enough if you want to take a one day trip here. The square at the Church of our lady was beautiful, and the market on the main square had a lot of fresh produce and an insane amount of cheese to choose from. Also, as in all of the Netherlands, LOVE the second hand shops!

    Amersfoort is underrated in the shadow of Utrecht and Amsterdam. It is a rich town, with very pleasant spaces in a compact downtown. Has all the Dutch necessities, canal, clocktower, fort, painter, city wall, ... less tourists.

    Location was superb, especially to those who wants to explore Amersfoort for the first time. Room was clean and comfortable, and has a bathtub & hairdryer too. Host also provided us with some earplugs, which is thoughtful considering its popular location for a borrel—a real value for money for its price per night. Staff was also nice and helpful throughout our stay. Overall was a very pleasant stay!
