Wonderful location on the edge of Giethoorn, providing parking and the opportunity to walk into the centre of Giethoorn with ease. We loved walking from one end to the other but you could easily cycle or take the car around the outside. Plenty of eating opportunities from ice creams through to a three course meal. It is a beautiful place, with houses and gardens from the fairy tales, with small and beautiful restaurants, but most of all with very polite and friendly people. Nobody passed by you without saying Hello! You can walk, or use a boat, small or large as you wish, the images are great! Sailing through the canals is a must. Close to this place there are other cities like Leeuwarden which is a real gem to discover, with nice pubs, and shops, and a local market on Sunday. Giethoorn is the Venice of the Netherlands, it’s beautiful even though the weather was not brilliant during our stay but the place is amazing and I can imagine will be packed come Summer. Giethoorn is one of many places nicknamed Northern Venice and the resemblance with its canals is definitely there. But the nickname almost doesn't do the town its justice.
