Quite a steep steps takes you up to the apartment, with beautiful interrior and the kitchen is very well kitted out, has everything and anything. Bedrooms again beautifully done with very comfortable beds (missing a mirror in the small bedroom). Nice spacious bathroom with bath/shower and toilet. terrace with views over the lake.

    Quite, but not much to do, especially in the colder time. Not much variety for restaurants, not even that calm because of closeness to the airport. Didn't hate my stay, people are really nice, it's just I am not coming back another time.

    Hotel Orion was chosen as it was close to our cycle route between Rotterdam and Itmuiden. It is on an interesting island served by a short ferry journey which runs 24 hours. Kaag Island has a village on it (Kaag), which although having an enormous ship yard, is a quiet traditional village with thatched cottages, a hotel, and bar/restaurants looking over the lake. It is the centre for many water sports. The hotel is quiet, unusual, and well priced. The host is welcoming and helpful.

    The hotel manager is extremely welcoming and helpful. He found a secure place to store my bike which was good. The room was comfortable and clean and all anyone could ask for. The room tariff was very good value compared to other hotels we've stayed at. It's a shame to only spend one night on the beautiful island but we have to move on.
