Great breakfast, so many different choices! The room is clean, cosy and has more than everything you need: hand and body lotion, teas. Great staff, we were able to leave our luggage for the day. Just in the city centre, next to the Hurtigruten/Havila wharf!

Alesund is a stunning town and Hotel Brosundet is right in the heart of it. The building exterior is gorgeous and matched by the lobby and rooms. Be sure to make a reservation at the restaurant in advance! We ate in the cafe and still had a lovely dinner, then stopped by the on-site bar for delicious cocktails. Overall it was an excellent location, clean and modern rooms, and all the amenities needed.

Cosy apartment overlooking a gorgeous garden. Communication was quick and informative, with lots of photos to help with a seamless contactless check in. The bed is super comfy and the bed linen soft. The kitchen is well laid out with everything you need to self cater..the candy and coffee pods a lovely bonus. The lounge is comfy and the bathroom has a good shower. There is a washing machine and dryer too. Parking is simple outside the property.

We only had one night here but if you want to immerse yourself in the Ålesund vibe this is the place for you! We loved the period decor complete with Charles Rennie Macintosh wallpaper. The owner has put a lot of effort into making it a very unique and memorable accommodation. It also has every modern comfort except (thankfully) a horrible wide screen tv that would ruin the character.

    Nice location for all sorts of excursions; viewing the close city, going for hikes in the area, visiting the famous Geiranger - which one can do with a 4 h boat trip each way. We found Alesund more interesting than eg. Bergen (which has loads of tourists).

    A two night stay gave us one complete day in Alesund.

    A two night stay gave us one complete day in Alesund. Well worth walking up the 418 steps to the viewpoint. I would recommend Racoon bakery, delicious cinnamon bun and hot chocolate. Unfortunately the glass studio was temporarily closed.

    Ålesund, per se, is not a major attraction.

    Ålesund, per se, is not a major attraction. However, this nice city is an excellent starting point to explore the surroundings spectacular fjords, drive the Atlantic road, and eventually go to other regions. That was what we did and it went extremely well. Weather seems to be colder and wetter here than upper north and on the south of the country, therefore the travelling period should be carefully chosen.

    A very pretty town and setting.

    A very pretty town and setting. Town mostly rebuilt following devastating fire in 1904, so, many building have Art Nouveau influence. Art Nouveau and Alesund museum both worth a visit. A very walkable small city. Really enjoyed our two days here.

    Wonderful little pearl of a city in Norway's west coast. The venice of Norway! Plenty of great good, both street and good restaurants and good beer. Plenty of things to do; hiking, museums, aquarium, etc.

    What I liked about Ålesund is that it is a real city (...

    What I liked about Ålesund is that it is a real city (population 59,000) with its own culture and not just a tourist trap consisting of hotels, cafés, and souvenir shops that exist soley for the sake of the cruise ships. Therefore there are several top restaurants in town (which are not cheap, however!) Very popular with the locals as well as out of town visitors. (Restaurants: Bro, Apotekergata No.5, & XL Diner) The historical district is extra-beautiful because of the famous 1904 fire and art nouveau reconstruction which adds special flavor to it unmatched elsewhere. Makes for some cute museums as well. The Aksla viewpoint is a manageable hike and well worth it (418 + steps)! Plenty to do for 2-3 days but a great place also to relax and hang out longer if you are in to boating, walking beautiful streets, side-walk cafés, local culture, etc. Easy access to Geiranger fjord and Troll's Road too!

    We arrived at the hotel at 12.30am after disembarking from our cruise and there was someone there to welcome us. Our room was very comfortable and there was a lot of space. The bathroom was very nice with a hot shower. Breakfast was very good with a lot of choices. Shame I did not have time to try the gym as we stayed only one night. The hotel is very convenient for staying before or after a cruise and it is centrally situated. Check-out is at 12.00 so we had time to explore Alesund before our flight.

    Excellent Breakfast. Location is damm good, touching the sea. Walking distance. Very friendly staff. Must play the game in reception area. Very good seating area in the lobby. Parking is freee after 5pm in nearby roads (just 1min away). Old town (German style) is just talking distance. You can actually see Alesund in 1hr by walking. Must visit Aksla View Point (can go by car in 10mins drive) or can walk up (entrance is just 100ft away from Hotel).

    10 out of 10! Both, Hosts as well as accommodation were the highlights of our trip in Norway so far. We thoroughly recommend staying there if you are nearby. We have never felt more welcomed and at home in all of Norway. The island is beautiful, lots of nature and birds and walks. We’ll probably back soon!
