FAQs about hotels in Auckland

Thrilling City of Sails and Volcanoes

Called the "City of Sails" due to the large number of yachts anchored in Waitemata Harbor, Auckland is the largest city of both New Zealand and Polynesia. Built on the Auckland Volcanic Field featuring about 48 extinct volcanoes, this city truly is a blast!

Auckland is a real cultural mix with strong Asian, European, Maori and Polynesian influences, celebrated in frequent festivals and sports events. Some examples of these cultures can be seen at the Auckland War Memorial Museum, one of the best in New Zealand. For more, try the upmarket dining of Viaduct Harbour.

Another must-see is the tallest free-standing tower in the Southern Hemisphere, the Sky Tower. If you’re feeling up to the challenge, you can even perform the Sky Jump, a controlled base jump from 630 feet!

Climbing the volcanic cones as well as the stunning Auckland Harbour Bridge will provide unforgettable, panoramic views of the city’s skyline. For a different perspective, why not try a cruise or sea kayaking?

Getting to the city center is an easy trip from Auckland International Airport. Find modern hotels, comfortable motels and cheap hostels on Booking.com, sure to have the perfect place to stay for your trip.

Spent a day wandering around the excellent Art Gallery and then some shopping along High and Queen Street - including trip to Unity Books and Little Unity. So much to do in Auckland - we love Devonport via Ferry, Parnell galleries / restaurants and Newmarket for shopping. Ponsonby great too. Great supper at Gerome in Parnell. Great coffee from Remedy coffee just off Queen Street.

Having been brought up in Auckland, it has changed a lot as have many places. Homeless people on streets can be quite intimidating. I would travel outside of peak traffic times, can be a nightmare and use map guides

I love Auckland city because you’re so close to water, downtown waterfront and fashion. You can catch a bus to Mission Bay, be amongst the walkers & joggers, fruit ice cream and awesome sea views. You’re a short walk away to catch a ferry to Waiheke Island - love the gorgeous beaches everywhere, relaxed vibe, restaurants, art and vineyards. Don’t miss Auckland Museum in the Domain with the amazing gardens to stroll in. Great cafe as well.

We visited the weta movie experience which was great, also had a look at Mt Eden and intend to go to the museum and skytower. Found a great pastry shop called Daily Bread which is a must place to grab breakfast and the Fox is a good pub to have a tasty feed.

The main attraction in town is Sky Tower which was close to where I stayed. Many other attractions involved getting on the water and exploring close by islands but make sure you bring your money with you because the ferries don’t come cheap. A stay of 2 to 3 nights is more than adequate to see the highlights.

We live in Auckland and are used to traffic flow. For an out of town person, this is not a location they would seek but to a person from overseas with connections in the area it would be adequate. It id too far from public transport and restaurants.

I did like the parking. There seemed to be a reasonable driveway to drive down and plenty of room to turn your car around etc. I liked how it was situated somewhat near the airport so was able to get the shuttle to the airport easily as it came and stopped at the hotel reception at certain times that u can find on their website and when you are booking the room. The room was pretty spacious for auckland and probably reflects the price well.

The location is 100% the reason we stay here (like you probably). The bed is super comfy There is another hotel opened up in the same courtyard (literally the carpark of Auckland airport, which would be worth comparing) Appreciate not getting asked the marketing questions this time

The staff are efficient, helpful and very attentive. The facilities are clean and tidy, especially the foyer area. The Yellow Bus airport shuttle runs 24/7 through a few hotels close by, really easy to commute to and from Auckland airport. Great value for money.
