Like any university city there is a vibrancy around the town...
Like any university city there is a vibrancy around the town when the students are about. The warehouse district is a particularly great place to stay and appreciate all the wonderful old buildings that have been refurbished and repurposed for a mixture of residential and commercial purposes. As a result there are many great eating options to choose from as well as plenty of places to shop. It was great to see bakers and butchers in the inner city a short sign that life is returning to the centre of Dunedin I would highly recommended Dunedin as a great place to spend a week or so there are plenty of natural attractions within a short distance of the city along with attractions, such as Larnach Castle and Olveston. Dunedin art gallery also has some fantastic art on display as well as revolving exhibitions. We stayed close to the centre of Dunedin and a lovely refurbished warehouse and found that everything we required for eating was within walking distance.Guest review byDavidAustralia - 10.0
I love Dunedin.
I love Dunedin. Despite the freezing weather, it has a gothic and quirky charm which I love. It has the best architecture of any NZ city and is compact enough that it doesn't take long to get anywhere. There is plenty to do, especially if you're lucky enough to be there in good or passable weather. The art gallery and museums are worth a visit in poor weather.Guest review byHilaryNew Zealand - 10.0

Dunedin is a beautiful city with some much history to it. Its nostalgic feel that flows through the buildings as you stroll through the streets. SO many hidden spots to enjoy retail therapy or a cuppa. Local Retail stores are just the cutest. We were just passing through on this trip, but Dunedin is a great place to visit for an extended stay Harbour and inlet good for paddle boarding, kayaking, sailing. Any scheduled open water swims are great. Mountain biking on the peninsula and behind Logan Park and other trails is good. Good tramping and trail running, Mt Cargill, Swampy etc Weekly Park runs. Marathon one of my NZ favourites, a must do. Summer events regularly held by local triathlon club. A city with scenic landscapes and harbour views seen from everywhere. Charming villas hug hillside suburbs with many quaint communities to discover. Easy walking around the city centre or alternatively drive around the coastal roads and suburbs to visit surf beaches pounding one side of the peninsula in contrast to the calm blue of the Otago harbour. Love the experiences at Otago peninsula, blue penguins tour and St Claire beach. The city I didnt see much to be honest. And unfortunately I had a bad experience booking with Trip advisor/ Viator for the Castle and Gardens booking, I booked through the app and the company they sold has been closed for 2 years. So I waited 40 minutes just to then be told by the Isite staff that that company has t been operating for a long time, so very disappointed.. im waiting for the refund but the experience was ruined. I can take back that time and I couldn’t book another tour bc I already expended the money and Im not sure I will hace a refund, and I had little time algo bc I only had the morning free.Guest review byBelenArgentina
