The hosts were fabulous and nearly accommodated every request we had. The location was lovely and peaceful. This is an Irish establishment, needless to say, the Irish bar was awesome, and again, the hosts most accommodating and friendly! The grounds are vast and well cared for. Overall, a beautiful stay at Donegal House.

We had a huge delay and arrived late. Annie at the reception left for us the unit open and prepared, and explained by mail very clearly how to find it, where to park etc. Parking was just in front of the door. The room had big windows with great views of the sea, and there was a sitting area outside, although it was too cold and windy to use it.

The visit to Kaiikoura for a couple of days was lovely for relaxation. Worthwhile just to experiece the seafood and in particular the Paua sandwiches. The Crayfish were too highly priced. Scenery is beautiful. We had hopes to eat in Kaikora's best recommended restaurant. But found when turning up there the doors were shut. So we ended up at the local pub Whalers. They recommended us to try their Board special Porterhouse Steak. Compliments to the chef. The chef knows how to cook steak. (and we are foodies). Walking around Kaikoura is the best way appreciate this beautiful place.

A beautiful part of the world. 1 extra night to explore the place would have been nice. Hotel located with in walking distance to shops, pubs and restaurants. Staff at the hotel were lovely. We ate in the bar as the restaurant was fully booked and the food was great. Definitely recommend staying here. We had a room with a view of the beach.

We went on the whale watch and the tour was very informative and saw lots of wild life, whales, seals, birds including an albatross and 2 different species of dolphins. I will always have this as a beautiful memory on our trip to New Zealand ❤️

Kaikoura can be overlooked as a destination, but is definitely worth an overnight stay or more, great vibe with restaurants, cafes, shops and first class hotel, Lots of walks, suitable for all levels of fitness from a stroll on the beach to a hike over to South Bay and back. the seal colony, or go whale watching, or just take in the views.

Loved the walk out at the end of the peninsula and the abundance of seafood on offer. The boutique shops offered things not available in other places. The views out to the ocean were amazing. This was all helped by 2 perfectly fine sunny days with snow on the ranges.

We chose this hotel for its proximity to the headland at Kaikōura. It is nestled up against the hill with the beautiful bay in front. The room was spacious, with a comfortable bed, a practical kitchenette and a shower that was hot and strong. We appreciated being able to do our washing, and sat on the chairs outside in the sun while we waited. Our hosts were friendly and we appreciated their information about the Seal colony and the Peninsular walk.

I have stayed in many motels around NZ for work over the last 10 years or so, most NZ motels are very dated, like they were built in the 70's and never updated, this place is very different, modern clean and very suitable for families rather than just catering for truck drivers. Great staff, clean, tidy and modern. Listening to the sea when going to sleep was nice.

Wow wow wow. What a spot! Absolutely loved this beautiful spot that Lou and Dan have created. Could not fault anything. It had everything we needed and so handy being dog friendly. The hot tub was a lovely touch and being able to bbq dinner while enjoying those views. Communication with Lou and Dan was so easy. We will definitely be back next time we are in Kaikoura

The setting is divine. All staff helpful and sincere. The hotel is authentic and comfortable As Kaikoura is rediscovered and renovations continue it may become more expensive and in greater demand. I feel lucky we have stayed when The Pier is perhaps at it's very best! Thank you everyone. We so enjoyed everything about our Kaikoura stay and The Pier.
