Nelson has a lot of speciality stores and a lot of food options. The Markets in the weekends are not for those looking for a bargain but do support local and NZ made and although some were costly, there was a lot of selection of goodies. Stoke the Bach Restaurant was staffed with lovely young girls, and the food was excellent and value for money The Arden Monaco where we stayed has limited room facilities and is not staffed outside of working hours, but the beds are comfortable and with very dark woodwork old paintings and very heavy doors, the facility was well equipped with heat pumps and hot water.Guest review byKimNew Zealand - 10.0

We unfortunately got caught in the bad weather and were stranded for two more days - would have been great, but too wet and flooded to do anything else. Lots of great restaurants, some with water views. Beautiful gardens (Japanese, botanic, chinese). Assessible to wineries and outdoor activities. A beautiful city. Lots of lovely trees The city centre was lovely even in the pouring rain. Great bus service. We obtained a Bee card and used mostly off peak so very economical. Lovely buildings, parks, museums to visit, and of course the cathedral. The Saturday market was great.
