Paihia is absolutely stunning. I visited most recently in Winter and loved taking the kids over to Russell to see some true NZ history. But the first time I visited was Summer and that is when you should definitely visit. Its out of this world. Great food outlets, pubs, walks and views. I have family roots in Waitangi, but when I decided to take my granddaughter (11yrs) and grandson (09yrs) to take a look at our waka, it was going to cost me $35.00 per head (adults) x2 just for my grandkids to see our canoe. I was saddened by this. I have a lot of good memories of Paihia and one of them is picking pipi's. Nice beach, kids friendly as long as supervised by an adult.Guest review byWaaNew Zealand - 8.0

Paihia is a great place to stay and head to the islands and the Waitangi Treaty Grounds. The ferry port and Treaty Grounds are in easy walking distance from the apartments. The apartment was very well presented and equipped. Gorgeous views. We thank the proprietors for the 'essentials' they provided including chocolate! We didn't realise there wasn't a lift though - carrying lots of luggage up flights of stairs was a bit hard.Guest review byWilliamAustralia - 10.0

I’m impressed with the variety of shops including food/kai restaurants. King Wahs, Jimmy Jacks. The local 4 Square also has a variety of specials for those travelling by camper vans or doing a weekend stay like us. We would have done a lot more had we had the time. Lots of great fishing spots. Bob and Lynn, owners of the motel, were excellent in accommodating all our needs. Lynn helped us with our heavy luggage, and Bob allowed us to check out two hours later than the predetermined 10am, as we were leaving Paihia later in the day. Bob also gave us some very good recommendations about where to have dinner at Russell. Dear Bob and Lynn, Thank you very much for the excellent service.
