Very nice town with plenty of places to eat.
Very nice town with plenty of places to eat. We visited the local RSA and the people there were very friendly, also very helpful. The meal we had was very good and the drinks very reasonable. A town full of surprises with opportunities for young and old. Close to t he river and jet boating and river kayak trips, ski fields in either direction, seasonal rail cart possibilities, cycle trails nearby and some good options for shopping and dining. A remote country town, with most of the usual facilities etc. Good river activities. Great railway history with good historical displays, museum. One of the best RSA's with a good restaurant. It is ideal for us to accommodate all our family when we have travelled to Taumarunui for an occasion. It is roomy and you never feel crowded with all rooms full. Beds were comfy, spoilt to have ensuites in most rooms. Well-equipped kitchen, bottle of wine and nice touch. Lounge was warm on arrival, much appreciated as it was wet and cold.
