Very nice town with plenty of places to eat.
Very nice town with plenty of places to eat. We visited the local RSA and the people there were very friendly, also very helpful. The meal we had was very good and the drinks very reasonable. A town full of surprises with opportunities for young and old. Close to t he river and jet boating and river kayak trips, ski fields in either direction, seasonal rail cart possibilities, cycle trails nearby and some good options for shopping and dining. A remote country town, with most of the usual facilities etc. Good river activities. Great railway history with good historical displays, museum. One of the best RSA's with a good restaurant. The Motel is across the road from New World, BP with small cafe, KFC, and close by is a pizza restaurant and liquor store. A short walk towards town centre are a variety of interesting shops including restaurants, bakeries and cafes. This all adds up to the Forgotten World Motel being in a convenient location. Space, warmth, comfort, a full kitchen along with everything on hand that we could need including an amazing selection of DVD's! There was a great playground across the road which the children enjoyed and with Taumarunui being close to National Park it was the perfect base for a trip to the snow.
