The Food & restaurants were fantastic.
The Food & restaurants were fantastic. Te Kuiti was very central to many of the sightseeing activities like the world famous Waitomo Caves & Pio Pio, where many scenes for the 'academy award winning movie ' by Peter Jackson, "Lord of the Rings' were filmed. This is a farming commercial area close to the Waitomo Caves and cave worms tour. The town is basically two main roads with a few restaurants, stores, supermarket and other services. There is a train stop. We did not use the train for travel. It is only 15 minutes to Waitomo Caves and a good place to start exploring the cliffs along the Pacific Ocean further south.Guest review byAnthonyCanada - 10.0

The Waitomo Caves is a must-see, and there are other attractions close by. We grabbed lunch at the Waitomo General Store which is more than just a store.The Cafe and menu selection is amazing and very reasonably priced. The garden at the cottage was amazing to explore. Te Kuiti has a fantastic Indian Takeaway with a wide range of menu options including a traditional Chicken Tikka Marsala and a toandoor oven to make Naan. Only problem was that we arrived on a weekend and a lot of restaurants nad safes were closed and no shops open (this is normal in New Zealand country areas but not where we come from in Australia). Loved the green theme and also the Christmas decor. The cottage had everything we needed in addition to providing an experience of living on a farm, including view of cows outside the bedroom window! Paula was a lovely host, and the breakfast and amenities provided were such a thoughtful selection.
