II only stayed there because the price was so good and it was close to Paeroa. It is beautiful and the river running through the gauges with I things to do seemed inviting.. Favourite place to eat was the Talisman Cafe which is open...
Favourite place to eat was the Talisman Cafe which is open to all, the gardens are so beautiful. The Waikino Pub has great beers and food suitable for vegetarians and they have takeout too. The Victoria Battery Tramway & Museum is a must if you are into the history of the place, again open to all. At the moment if you are using the Rail Trail, the path between the George swing bridge and the Railway Tunnel bridge is not open to cyclists, so you have to use the tunnelGuest review byLindaNew Zealand - 10.0

We enjoyed exploring the natural waterfalls and travelling along the Karangahake Gorge seeing a bit of our local history from mining tunnels to the remains of iron ore factories.
