If only we could have stayed longer. Literally this is an oasis of tranquility after visiting the Fox and Franz Josef Glaciers. A beautiful, garden setting on the north side of Franz Josef. We sat out on the decking overlooking the pond late afternoon listening to birdsong. The rooms were amazing, spacious, well planned with a huge bed and large bathroom. We paid for continental breakfast and were very happy the selection.

Surrounded by natural rainforest on New Zealand's West Coast, Te Waonui Forest Retreat is a short drive from Franz Josef Glacier. Guests enjoy free WiFi.

Incredibly clean room. Spacious, more like a small apartment. Fully equipped kitchen. The bedding felt new, and well taken care of. Washing machine on site. Gracious hosts. Perfect stay in Franz Josef.
