Kraków, with its Vistula River charm, historic architecture, museums, and kind people, is truly a beautiful and dynamic city! I visited the impressive Wawel Royal Castle, Oskar Schindler's Enamel Factory and the surprisingly beautiful Czartoryski Museum, and even experienced a bit of local life in a hospital. I also explored some wonderful places to eat—from cosy local restaurants like Starka | Restaurant & Vodkas to casual food stands such as Farsytat Dumplings (the potato-and-bacon filling was delicious!) and Zapiekanki Królewskie. A wonderful cosmopolitan city. Reasonably priced, with lots of bars and restaurants, museums and churches with an excellent transport system. Most people spoke or understood English, and overall it was a great place to go. Of course, trips to Auschwitz and the salt mine are part of the 'attraction' of Krakow, but it is simply a lovely place, particularly the main square. Tip; beware of the Cloth Hall where there are lots of stalls with beautiful amber jewelry and just looking round can be hard on your credit card! Krakow is a beautiful city and we will certainly return. Transport is plentiful and inexpensive, plenty of Ubers too. We packed in a lot in our 4 day stay, Auschwitz/Birkenau was amazing but we felt like we were rushed through it very quickly as there were other groups hard on our heels. The Salt Mines were also fabulous and well worth the visit. We ate fabulous street food and went to local restaurants which were very tasty and a fraction of British prices.
