Opole is famous for its concerts both indoor and outdoor. Go to a concert. (Book it as soon as you can so you get seats.) The walkways along the canal are beautiful and peaceful. Go for a walk. There are so many nice things about this small city.
There are so many nice things about this small city. Firstly, an awesome railway station. The walk along Krakowska to the centre is really nice and there are some good shops and bakeries. A walk along the river to the centre is even nicer. The architecture is interesting - Polish, Austro Hungarian, German, Italianate and central European. Look out for some interesting glass and plaster works on one of the buildings in the Maly Rynek. There is a war memorial in the Maly Rynek - from the Communist Era - and it is very imposing. Opole is peaceful and serene as you walk along the tree lined canal toward the old town. Opole has the balance right. Although you are in a city, you have the feeling of a small town but with all the desired amenities nearby. Yes, Opole has tourism but not the overwhelming tourism that confronts us in other popular destinations. If you are a tourist, there is no shortage of places to see or good restaurants. Small and compact with plenty to offer in terms of leisure activities and eating out.
