Small town with Railway museum and Folk park, each worth a couple of hours. Town closes down in the evening with possibly one restaurant open. Hotel Kaukaska is the best hotel, serves dinner, and is very good value.

A charming small town well presented.

A charming small town well presented. Steam train depot worth a visit but sadly the steam loco was out of service when we visited, so the trains were hauled by a little diesel goods loco. There are over 20 steam locos at the depot so it would be a good investment to keep at least two serviceable. That would attract more visitors to the town.

I have been visiting Wolsztyn for over 30 years now, primarily due to the fact it is now pretty much unique in the world by still having a regular public service train hauled by a steam locomotive (at least as of late 2023 when I last visited). For a globally famous town it is not a huge place but it is very pleasant and a great place for exploring the local surroundings and nature. The town has a couple of nice big lakes with plenty of bird life which I like to walk around when visiting. There is also a small but impressive Soviet cemetery from the Second World War close to the station. The town itself has character and some historic buildings. The tourist information office at the station is very helpful on what to do and what to see and has information in English - in my experience there is an English speaker there to assist visitors too.
