It was so good I booked 2 more nights to make it my 'hub'. I was on a cycling Camino and worried about rain and hills beyond here (as novice level) . Had a great day cycling to Valencia and back along the river- saw many birds and fish jumping. Tried different restaurants in town and Valenca. The hosts were kind and intuitive. The facilities clean and I booked a single room shared bathroom- was clean and comfortable. The ratings are true.. Enjoy

Had the best stay in Wood Mood! Accommodation was excellent - from the location of the cabin on a quiet lot to the design, decor and amenities. The view from the cabin is also beautiful. The hosts were also incredibly friendly and went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. Would highly recommend staying here!

    Caminha is a quaint little town on the Spanish border.

    Caminha is a quaint little town on the Spanish border. It has the local charm of a Portuguese town. We stayed in an apartment, dined out, and cooked at home. The local farmers market is on Wednesday and Saturday, ideal for buying fresh vegetables, fruit, charcuterie, and bread. The local fish market has bacalhau and fresh vegetables from Tuesday to Saturday. Our favourite lunch place was Trincaria Happy Food Bakery. Their daily lunch menu was great and good value. At the square, we enjoyed Cafe Central for a drink in the afternoon, an the pasteleria on the other side, for morning coffee. Canto do Lobo, with its slow food concept, is recommended for dinner at least once during your stay. It offers great food, great service, really good conversation, and value for money. They also have a huge beer collection, both bottles and draft beer. Easy to move around the town on foot, and several small supermarkets are open until 21.00 during the week. Walking distance to the beach (15-20min). Easy to bike to nearby communities like Moledo or Praia de Ancora. From the waterfront, there are taxi boats to Spain, La Guardia. If you are in a car, it's a 15-minute drive over the bridge, and you are in Spain. We enjoyed walks in the area and around the town and some drives to nearby towns for meals and exploration. If you are without a car, the train goes to every city nearby in the morning and afternoon, and it is only 1.5 hours by train to Porto.

    Caminha is in a beautiful location,it has lots of places to eat and drink.It is a good base for exploring northern Portugal and doing the Camino.There are cycle and walking paths near by and it is easily accessible by train.

    Caminha, a fortified border town located at the mouth of the river Minho, where several battles were fought between Portugal and Spain, now has much more friendly relations with its neighbor , it is a nice place to stay a few days to discover the area, unfortunately the ferry that connects the two banks of the river, is out of service.

    I have been taking holidays in Caminha for over 30 years so...

    I have been taking holidays in Caminha for over 30 years so it is one of my favourite spots. The town is small and everything is in walking distance, packed with enough restaurant choices to keep you satisfied and very well fed. Around it there's plenty interesting things to see and places to visit, also more restaurants with more excellent food to enjoy. The proximity with Spain is also a bonus.

    To begin with our host Lucas went out of his way to pick us up with his car after we got lost and confused. We were super tired after a long walk and he and his wife were very patient and friendly. We had our own bedroom and bathroom in a shared apartment with common kitchen and living room. Amazing view over rio Minho with the setting sun and the shores of Spain on the other side. Very nice and spacious shower and bathroom. Great bedroom with comfortable bed.

    The place is just beautiful, with direct access to the river beach and a little bar right across. There’s plenty of green areas to relax, with chairs to sunbathe and hammocks. Personnel is friendly, breakfast is nice, and the room was clean and spacious. The location is nice, 10 minutes away by car from Caminha and 20 from amazing beaches such as Vila Praia de Ancora. I’d recommend and I’d definitely come back.

    Good facilities. Great views from the restaurant and breakfast place to Spain and monte Santa Tecla. Nice walk to the centre of Caminha. In a good location, you could hike the mountain behind and walk to the river beach.
