We were only staying in Caniço, we went there to visit Madeira and really enjoyed it. It's green and beautiful, people are very nice and food is excellent. All of Madeira island is mountainous therefore it would be advisable to rent a car on the island to get around. There was a very good bakery and cafe in the village and a small grocery for essentials. Small town so little nightlife.
Small town so little nightlife. Good bus links into Funchal and down to Canico de Baixo. Good restaurants, especially La Terresa. Two supermarkets and many cafes. Prices lower than in Funchal. Quinta Splendida gardens open to non residents for 4 euros. Lovely place to sit and relax. Not a tourist hotspot so locals go about their daily life. The silent neighborhood has also been an additional nice discovery. As you might notice as soon as you arrive in Madeira, parking spaces for cars sometimes lack, but you won't have this problem by booking this apt given the private parking slot. The seaview was lovely. Last but not least, the host kidness and the welcoming gift that opened to a fantastic trip in Madeira.Guest review byValerioItaly
