Faro is compact enough to see in 2 days. The old town is lovely and will be better when the derelict buildings are renovated . Restaurant is good. We liked O Castelo , the food was excellent, service first class and the Fado singers and players added to the lovely atmosphere . Avoid the little tourist train. It was very uncomfortable/ bumpy. Faro is a beautiful place with friendly people. Its small enough to walk around and has plenty of bars, restaurants and shops. The marina and ferry trips are fantastic with a trip to the Praia de Faro beach being a must! We loved Faro.
We loved Faro. Great place to explore, lovely restaurants, Dois Irmaos was particularly goo for seafood and typical Portuguese dishes. We went on a boat trip with Formosamar which was brilliant. We went to a deserted island then to Culatra island where you could swim or eat and drink at a place overlooking the ocean. You can also go bird and dolphin watching. It's very easy to walk around Faro, buses and trains are easily accessible to explore the area. We were there for 3 full days.
We were there for 3 full days. It was the first time back in 21 years so things had changed. However, found a couple of amazing restaurants. Its a short 10 minute drive to the airport and then you can take the ferry from the beach into the Faro downtown for 2.30 euros one way.
