    A wonderful town to visit!

    A wonderful town to visit! Lots of shops with unique gifts, beautiful church, a castle, incredible musicians making the most of the open space and acoustics. LOVED our visit! Restaurants did not disappoint and our stay at Patio House was outstanding! Our hosts were incredible and ensured our stay was memorable and special. We felt very welcomed! Highly recommend making this walled town a stop and linger for a while during any trip to Portugal! The cobblestones and hills are worth it! Just be sure to wear comfortable shoes!

    Loved walking the city walls, and walking through the cobblestone streets, lots of shops to mosey in & out of. Good food as well - such a charismatic city “little gem” we got there late & left early so we stayed 2 nights as that only really gave us 1 full day & it’s nice to see at night too!

    This town had something for everyone.

    This town had something for everyone. There was adventure as we hiked around the town wall, shopping, restaurants, beautiful buildings, and friendly people. My teenagers didn't want to leave. We were also fortunate to have stayed during their medieval festival!

    Super-charming old walled town with many wonderful...

    Super-charming old walled town with many wonderful restaurants with shops with local artist-made products. Because we stayed overnight, we felt like locals after 3pm when all the tourist buses left and also the following morning. Definitely worth the trip and worth it to overnight. We walked most of the wall, but it was challenging, uneven steps and no guardrail on most of it, pretty high up. Beautiful, but just be very careful and wear good hiking shoes.

    Beautiful walled town with small streets to explore. Overrun by tourists and maybe lost its charm. We stayed in a traditional house 10 minute walk from the centre which made it special and more authentic

    Obidos is a truly beautiful place to visit - outstanding...

    Obidos is a truly beautiful place to visit - outstanding surrounding countryside, the town itself has exquisite cobbled roads, pretty buildings, shops with a vast array of items for tourists some of which were unique such as the filigree jewellery and sardine tins with many types of fish and more - you need to see for yourself! As some of the roads are steep I would be wary on wet days or at least wear the right shoes. Dinner at Book and Cook, The Literary Man Hotel was amazing. I ate every crumb off my main course and dessert plates!

    Located near the entrance to the town of Obidos (inside the city walls), it's a perfect starting point to start exploring. We arrived before check-in time, so we left our bags at their partner location just outside the city walls. For 5 eur/person you can also get a self-service breakfast. The room and bathroom were small, but very clean and nicely decorated. When visiting Obidos, be sure to try the best ginjinha in Portugal - Ginjinha da Porta 7! (right by Porta da Vila)

    The hotel is housed in an old monastery. It is stuffed with books, which is fantastic for those who love reading and exploring bookshops and libraries. It was perfect for us! The room was spacious, a lovely bathroom with a bath. Very comfortable bed. Powerful AC, which is a must in Portugal in summer. Super close to the city walls, but very quiet at night. Breakfast was lovely. We dined in the restaurant once, and it was superb! Very nice and helpful staff!

    Wonderful space, perfect in every way. Excellently equipped, and the aircon and dehumidifier were really effective, so it was super comfortable. The location is ideal - just 2 mins from Porta da Vila, and 1 road back from the main street. Despite that, it was absolutely peaceful. There is free parking just outside the town wall, but it is not signposted - the entrance is next to Caixa Geral de Depósitos, N8, 2510-089 Óbidos, Portugal.

    Excellent position. Lovely sitting out at the back of the hotel enjoying the view. Great accomodation. Very comfy. Staff very friendly and helpful, especially with the situation of total electricity power failure in Spain and Portugal. Will definitely return.
