Beautiful fishing village with charm and character as well as lovely activity filled beaches. Lovely restaurants and bars to soak up the sun. 3 nights was perfect to walk the coast and spend some time relaxing and on the beach. We had a car but walked everywhere to get the best out of it. Recommend the Java house bar for drinks and relaxing and check around for restaurants. The area is nice.
The area is nice. However the beaches in the area is NOT for little kids. Too wavy and rough. Possible that on a calm day the beaches south of Peniche facing the southwest could be calmer but on the day we went they were all rough. We went to a beach to Praia da Foz do Arelho about 20-25 mins away that was sheltered from the ocean and the kids had a blast. At night there was a festival but otherwise the town was sort of quite despite being middle of July and supposedly "high tourist season".Guest review byPeterCanada - 10.0

It is an amazing surfing spot but not much more than that.
It is an amazing surfing spot but not much more than that. I would recommend it if you want do surfing (beginner or advanced). Otherwise it is a rather cold place (10degrees less than Lisbon), the sea is very wavy and cold, and there is a lot of wind.Guest review byZala - 10.0

Warm and friendly local people. Fantastic local beaches. Great for walking and surfing. Although not always connecting, there are long sections of safe (and flat) cycling infrastructure that make biking in the Peniche region a real pleasure. Compliments to the local council for investing. The local indoor market (closed Mondays) is excellent and offers a great range of produce (the fish stalls are upstairs !). Wide range of cafes (Stella Maris, Roma, Capri and Canoa were our favourites) and seafood restaurants. Lots of interesting museums and churches to visit (the Lace and Firefighting museums were particularly good and both free to enter). The local villages of Baleal and Ferrel provide a good day out especially if you like surfing and a cool vibe. Back in ‘old town’ Peniche both Benfica and SCP have their own club bars (casa / núcleo) in which they welcome visitors - great places to enjoy a drink, watch football and meet the locals. Overall, Peniche is a very interesting and enjoyable place to visit - we stayed for 2 weeks and could easily have remained for 2 months. PS although the Bus Station is slightly ‘out of town’ (about a 15 mins generally flat walk), it has excellent links to Lisbon, Porto and the surrounding regions and regular dependable services.Guest review byMichaelUnited Kingdom

I must say the hotel was very clean and Fresh good 3* standard, despite the going back in time with the 60/70 s furniture😂 The bed was very comfortable, even if it looked like my granny’s has did the room! Breakfast was ok but nothing special . Staff were ok but didn’t talk much! Overall worth a overnight stop in Peniche we’re other hotels are expensive. The rooms are quiet big, clean and comfortable, the mattresse was great as well! a big plus for the balcony to store the surf equipment! The breakfast is really good and diversified (loved the fresh pasteis in the morning), and there are plenty things to do in the hotel in case you come across a rainy day!!
