The hotel was really a hit. I worked for a couple of hours every morning after an exceptionally good breakfast. Great room with an alcove with a desk. Perfect cleaning, wonderful beds and bedding in the best quality of cotton. This is a hotel that there are not many of. Could hardly be a better hotel if you want to discover Lisbon and its surroundings. Right on the threshold of the historic part of Lisbon, taxi outside the door, the tram is 100 meters away and 300 more and there is the subway. Perfect for those of us who love to share a fantastic city and its history. And just as perfect to come home to after a day of 100 stairs, steep streets, vibrant culture and overwhelming experiences.

The reception staff was very courteous and helpful. The breakfast buffet was plentiful and great variety. We specially enjoyed the pastries. The staff on the breakfast was very kindly with the smile. The central location of the hotel made a very easy to navigate around the city. Modern and very nice room. The housekeeping did an exceptional job at cleaning the room. Thanks a lot for amazing view. I enjoyed the fact there was a coffee machine in a room.

    Interesting place.

    Interesting place. It’s not fancy, pretty or touristy; there’s a big ugly industrial fishing port on one end. But there is real life there. There’s a square with a handful of cafes and one or two grocers. There are a number of charmingly no-frills restaurants serving truly delicious food (recommend Sabores2 for the BBQ, and the cafe with yellow chairs in the town square for coffee and pastries). There are a couple of bars. Most places seem to be full of locals; kind of the inverse of Lisbon centre. Everyone I met was friendly and helpful, but I did feel self-conscious at times as a solo traveller amongst locals. Trafaria is really quick and easy to get to other places: gorgeous beaches and the more touristy Costa da Caparica are only a 7 min/4 euro uber away (50 ish min walk). Lisbon centre and airport are a 20-30 min uber depending on traffic and which part you want to go to. I’m really glad I went because I saw a side of Portugal I hadn’t seen before. I would happily return for the pastry cafe on the square and the bbq restaurant. And Casa Barr hotel was great.
