The rooms were well appointed, beds were comfortable, property was well located and a beautiful place to unwind and enjoy a glass of wine while looking at the ocean! The multiple apartment style accommodations are great for a large family or multi-family getaway. The Koi ponds and gardens were also quite enjoyable to walk!

Exceptional. Very good location, nice & cozy equiped appartment. Exceptional hosts. We arrived by ferry and they picked up us from port and took to the appartment :) Highly recomended for staying in Velas!

We stayed in apartment E, which was more beautiful than in the pictures. There is no aircon but we asked for a fan and got one so it was good. The bed could be a bit more modern. This apartment kans a large Balcony and the view is stunning. Antonio is a great host and veri helpful.

We stayed here only one night and we had a great time check in was easy we were able to deposit our luggage there early then check in times which enabled us to fully use the day! We enjoyed the stay and would recommend it!

Beautifully renovated apartment right downtown and one street away from the sea. The main bedroom has a small balcony and great views, and has air conditioning. Well appointed kitchen and living area. Shared bathroom on the bedroom level with a separate toilet on the living area level. Very generous welcome basket was an amazing touch. Swimming towels were provided which we also very much appreciated.

A lovely modern and comfortable apartment with good facilities including washing machine.Great view of bay from balcony.Although no air conditioning the posh electric shutters made a big difference in terms of heat.Good communication from.point of booking.Fair amount of information provided re taxi fares etc.Lovely quiet location ,not far from natural swimming pools. Supermarket about 8 mins away most restaurants at least 5 mins more.

    Velas was a nice quite town. There is lots to see and do.

    Velas was a nice quite town. There is lots to see and do. Great hotels and friendly staff. There is a "pool" downtown at the seawall within the ocean due to rocks that have been placed, so you can swim. They have a stage where artists and singers can perform. Lots of cute shops with great merchansie to purchase, with easy streets to walk through. Lots of cobbled stones, so wear comfortable shoes. Great restaurants down cute little streets and lots of friendly people who want to help you regardless if you can speak portuguese or not.

    The apartment was really modern compared to most places in the Azores. Great view with a large covered patio with a bbq which included charcoal and wood. There is a washer located on the covered patio. The rooms were spacious and all had AC. One of the rooms also had a loft with an additional sleeping area in addition to the main bed. Great location which was in walking distance to most of Velas and nearby by Boss Burger and a Chinese Restaurant.

    I had intended to scout the rest of the island more, but a frustrating trip from home left me less than enegetic = still, I had never been to Velas before and there was plenty to see for a couple of days withoit leaving town. HInt: visit the Land and Sea museum.

    Amazing place. Completely stocked small supermarket. Chinese store had an amazing selection of clothes, electronics, etc. Restaurants were wonderful. Everyone we meet was helpful and friendly. Go to the lagoon on the otherside of the island - heavenly. Better hydranga lined roads and fields than Sao Miguel. Call Ramos for taxi service - he is my cousin.

    Piscina Natural Simao Dias, the most beautiful natural pool in the Azores. I would recommend it to others. I traveled around the island on a rented scooter. But I thought it was safer to use a car.

    Velas is a lovely little town on Sao Jorge.

    Velas is a lovely little town on Sao Jorge. It isn't large but has everything you need for a week on tge island. There are several natural swimming pools with free umbrellas and shower/changing facilities (the fact they're free unlike so many places is really good). The restaurants we ate in were really good serving local produce with good value for money. The rest of the island has the spectacular scenery and Velas is a good place to base yourself to see it.

    Such a beautiful view! These are whole houses and that makes it so comfortable as a family. There is a bathtub, fully equipped kitchen, washing machine - everything really. The guest houses are located on the mountainside above Velas and off we stunning views over the ocean and the neighbouring Pico island. The host of these houses is the friendliest and most helpful lady ever. When asked for an extra heater, she went and got one immediately. She checked in on us a few times to make sure we were comfy and she was sweet and kind to our son.

    Fabulous location, with bats swooping over the pool, knock out views in a green paradise. We overlooked 2 cliffs and saw amazing sunsets. Maria was lovely and made the stay welcoming and homely. Staff cleaned and changed sheets/ bedding every day. 5 mins walk from Velas. On the walk to Velas, you could see the volcano of pico rising out of the clouds. Honesty, I would have paid double.Breakfast was a feast! All the photos I have added are from the property views or walking into velas.

    We had the most amazing stay at Hotel dos Moinhos. Loved everything about the property, the pool, the view to Pico. Breakfast was delicious, filled with local treats and delicious homemade jams with fruits they grow at the property. The restaurant was the best we found in Sao Jorge which was very convenient. Also Leticia was an amazing host and looked very well after us. I would definitely stay here again.

    Great location. Several dining and shopping options within walking distance but bear in mind that Velas is relatively small.. I enjoyed the shared kitchen, fridge and deck with a view of the sunset and Mount Pico.
