In overall a great hotel for a budget stay. - Very helpful staff. I was provided a room before the official check-in time (I bet I looked really exhausted), and was provided explanation in English about the hotel amenities. Therere was definitely a care for a visitor wellbeing. - Well kept room, having everything I needed for a 5-6 days stay. Cleaning staff very profficient and nice. - Breakfast was good, there was enough choice for some variety and liked some regional sweets. - Good location (and great if you have a car). It seems a little bit off the old Vila do Conde, but the distance on foot is marely 15 minutes (10 if you walk with my speed). Close enough if you have to visit e.g. municipal auditory or other official venues in the city. - Other visitors seemed nice and not too loud, it is definitely a hotel chosen by people in transit for a 1-2 day stay, workers and budget tourists. Mostly 30+.

Host was very communicative and met us to show us the property. Bed was comfortable and hot shower was lovely. Close to the Portuguese Coast Camino. Terrace just off the bedroom was a lovely way to relax in the afternoon.

Beautiful location, lovely converted stone cottage. The host was very generous and gave us big boxes of vegetables grown locally as well as lots for breakfast. There were fruit trees in the garden she also gave us boxes of oranges and lemons. It was really quiet in the evening and we had a patio with a lovely view over the river valley. It also had a small dip pool in the lower garden and we could walk down through fields to an old footbridge with ruins of flax mills. Lots of other walking paths nearby and big sandy beaches only 15mins drive away.

    Vila do Conde is a charming town that is a far cry from the hustle and bustle of a large city, if that is what you are used to, or looking to get away from. There are many good restaurants in the area. We hired a car for the duration of our stay as we wanted to travel further afield whilst adding stops along the way and choosing the most scenic routes.

    Such an interesting town, the tourist information office was...

    Such an interesting town, the tourist information office was a revaluation with such a knowledgeable lady who spoke perfect English. The history of the town is so interesting to a retired boat builder who loved all the old photos and the Custom House. The people we met were all very friendly and helpful, everyone spoke English and tried to teach us a little Portuguese. The Lace museum is beautiful, unfortunately the ladies were not demonstrating when I visited but the old film showing lace being made, especially by such young children, was very interesting. A town to visit again.

    Very nice location with a lot to offer.

    Very nice location with a lot to offer. Restaurant prices are quite high for the general standards and in comparison to Lisbon or Porto. Especially when location is near the river or sea. Caution on day selection when Monday´s are normally restaurant are closed.

    Because the property was long and narrow artificial light...

    Because the property was long and narrow artificial light had to be used even in daylight hours. Patio spacious but somewhat overlooked from the rear Limited free street parking some distance away. A healthy walk to the beach but accessible to local grocery, cafes and railway station for Porto.

    Vila do Conde felt like a suburb of Porto, mostly apartments and big houses. There wasn't a huge variety of restaurants and not a lot of fish restaurants. But the beach that goes on for miles was amazing with lots of options for families or surfers. There are 2 metro stops in V. do C. which are ideal and easy for getting to Porto or the airport. If you go car free there are lots of taxis (we used Uber) which are very reasonable. Nice local market on a Friday in the centre of town.

    Vila do Condo upon first sight looks nice.

    Vila do Condo upon first sight looks nice. It’s on the river and the square with the flowers is really nice. Once you go out of the square and into the town you see that it is very run down and unkept. The local youths didn’t take kindly to our accompanying teenage football team and on one evening chased a group of them out of town threatening violence towards them. This is one location I will not return to

    Ana (host) was extremely helpful e.g. I requested a microwave and it was there before I arrived. She was always available for any questions I had, was very friendly and asked to let her know if something could be improved (nothing I could think of). The lovely/comfortable/clean apartment was ideal for a 3 week business trip instead of staring at 4 walls in hotel room. Shops/supermarket/restaurants all within 5/10 minutes walk. I would have no hesitation to go back there.

    Great apartment, lots of space, very clean, comfortable bed, plenty of kitchen utensils. Helpful hints for restaurants. Easy to walk to everywhere in Vila do Conde. Our only regret is that we could only stay one night. We definitely would stay again.
