The hotel is located in an area of Vila Nova de Gaia with a wonderful view over Porto and the D.Luis bridge. The hotel is very nice but the highlight of the trip is definitely the staff. They were very professional, helpful, pleasant whether at the front office, the breakfast or else. They left many little attentions in the room that made the trip all the more special and we’d like to thank them all.

From the moment we walked in, the staff at reception were kind and attentive. We had suggestions of meals and activities shown to us and a map provided. Our luggage was stowed and early check-in was accommodated. The rooms were incredibly comfortable as were the pillows. Aircon worked effectively, and the room views were really something to remember. We stayed on the 7th floor with fantastic views of the bridge and river Breakfast was well worth the price, and the food ranged from continental offerings to English and American breakfast offerings. We enjoyed drinks at the downstairs bar in the lobby and would definitely come back to this hotel in the future.

We enjoyed all aspects of Forte de Gaia. The welcome was efficient and friendly, even before we arrived I asked for and received prompt assistance with airport transfer. The room was excellent with plenty of space for our bags and belongings, the room service was also top grade with staff checking if all was ok several times a day. Breakfast was lovely with plenty of variety, with views of the city from the restaurant. It was nice to relax at the pool which was heated to a nice temperature.

We had an outstanding stay. The staff was highly service minded at check-in and check-out (Fransesca), amazing view of Porto from our hotel/room and a free upgrade was a very pleasant surprise. The breakfast at the terrace was an excellent start of the day. Yeatman's proximity to the WoW (World of Wine) museum was brilliant and the museum was very interesting in a modern educational setting. We will come back and stay at the Yeatman again.

    We visited during the Sao Joao festival and although extremely crowded- one of the most magical nights I've ever experienced. Such a beautiful sight to see, thousands of floating lanterns throughout the nights sky and a unbeatable fireworks show at midnight!

    We chose this area as it was more relaxed than Porto central, but very easy to go between the 2 areas either on foot (downhill), or by metro, or tram. Also, all the port lodges are on this side of the River Duoro

    excellent atmosphere and good food available. On the opposite side of the river to Porto with a little less bustle. Many interesting areas to investigate including some quite newly built areas including the new cultural and entertainment area.

    We had two days and two nights here, but we wished it could have been a week. There is a great atmosphere of vibrant energy along the Douro waterfront and so much to see and do in both Porto and Vila Nova de Gaia. We loved it!

    I really loved Gaia.

    I really loved Gaia. This is the destination I will definatelly visit again. I loved the nightlife and the Porto Wine tasting, I visited Calem. I recommend :). Everything is walkable, good restauration, cheaper boat tours and a good view on Porto.

    Loved that it was a short walk to El Corte Ingles. That place is huge and convenient for shopping. Very close to cross the bridge into the heart of Porto for eating and shopping as well. We just parked our rental car and took Uber around the city for convenience. There was a train and bus right outside the building plus restaurants in the bottom of the building which was convenient.

    We stayed in the top apparent which has stunning views from the balcony! Truly we had friends staying at fancy hotels that didn’t have as good a view as us. We spent most evenings watching the sun set over Porto from there. It is located perfectly for Gaia and accessing all the port wine cellars and tourist locations on that side of the river (cable car etc.). It is also located in a quiet square with a beautiful church right nearby. The apartment is well appointed with everything you need and the host was really great with communication

    Let me say that this was a last minute booking, due to a bad experience in another hotel in Oporto, that I replaced by this one in a few minutes. Without having the time and the means to compare it. So I did pay more than 50% then the lower price available directly at the hotel and even so was a fair value. If I had the best price it would be excellent. Besides that the hotel is brand new, basic. But with good quality. It will simply be my pick of hotel when I return to oporto

    Everything, the hotel is very pretty and impressing in its size. We booked a room with a view and couldn't be disappointed, we could see Porto and the river from our terrace garden. The staff was also very gentle. 🫰 In term of food there was a lot of choice, from the breakfast to the options in restaurants. And the food was delicious. The cocktails were amazing when done by the bartender Diogo. Best part for us was the access to a spa and pool.

    Found the River Soul by accident and as a last minute booking while we were in the country. We weren't sure what to expect but were blown away by the hotel and its proximity to the city centre (both on the Gaia and the Porto side of the river) Our room on the 2nd floor looked out over the Douro river with amazing views of Porto on the opposite bank.
