The central square and church is where most things are happening, there are plenty of benches to sit on and watch the evening unfold and plenty of very nice shops to browse in the evening. Great town with many small shops.
Great town with many small shops. Ideal place for purchasing towels and bed linens as you are spoilt for choice. We visited in December and the lights were fabulous, also the miniature Christmas Village cannot be missed and as an added bonus you can take the ferry over to Spain from here.Guest review bylynnPortugal - 10.0

The newly paved pedestrian thoroughfare was a real bonus. Attractive and very safe to walk. There are a good mix of restaurants. We were there in December and the Christmas market in the square, although not very big, was an added attraction. Vila Real de Santo António is very good for shopping. Wonderful hotel, great location.
Wonderful hotel, great location. The food market was just across the hotel, a supermarket too. Very near the city centre, lots of shops, bars and restaurants. The breakfast was so good, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages, fresh fruit and delicatessen, lovely coffee. The location is right in the centre of Vila Real de Santo Antonio. It's easy to get to the shops, cafes, supermarkets, and the tourist train to the beach. The property is divided into two studio rooms: one downstairs, and one upstairs. That would be great for two semi-independent couples. The rooftop area is lovely for sitting outside in the evening.
