Sailing, Golf and Sun in Algarve

A luxury, purpose-built resort along the Algarve region coastline offering a variety of accommodation ranging from 5-star hotels to villas and apartments, Vilamoura is the largest complex of its type in Europe. It is conveniently located, 16 km from Albufeira and 25 km from Faro Airport.

Its heart and soul lies around the exclusive Marina, while the 20 square kilometre development is flanked by a Golf Academy and 6 Golf Courses. It also includes a casino and a variety of sports facilities, comprising a diving club and a large, sandy beach. All-inclusive resorts, as well as 4 and 5 star hotels around Vilamoura Marina and its beaches are all popular choices.

Although the area was developed from scratch by the Porto banker Cupertino de Miranda in 1974, its origins date back to Roman times. The Cerro da Vila Museum tells the story of the ancient fishing town, and displays the ruins of the Roman baths from the 1st century.

    Great place plenty of things to do around the area ,5 golf courses for those who wish to play. Sailing trips are plentiful with many water sports near bye, crazy golf and a great water park. Great beach where you can rent umbrellas and sun lounges with option of half or full day at 25 euros a day for an umbrella with 2 loungers 15 euros half a day. Also plenty of of beach bars, personally favourite was Marisa as a little quieter. Best restaurants in my opinion Steaks and grilles Haven, Chinese Tai Tai, Indian Ghandi, Italian Capriccio, The small train is great for getting around and very cheap. Favourite sailing trip are was on the condor sailing ship outside the Tivoli Hotel

    Very clean and well kept area.

    Very clean and well kept area. The Marina has an abundance of everything. Nice restaurant and bars. Lively atmosphere and can get very busy. Open till the wee small hours and depending on where you are staying you can get the noise of the bars and clubs drifting in.

    Very nice area, I especially liked the marina and enjoyed walking along the sea front. Plenty of restaurants to choose from and nice walk to near by locations along beach. Visited the fish market in Quarteira which was very bust and an experience, there was a fruit and vegetable market also.

    Vilamoura was even better than I expected!

    Vilamoura was even better than I expected! The marina was HUGE and had everything, there were beach clubs dotted around further afield from the marina, everywhere was clean, great place for a 'let your hair down' trip but equally a great place for a more chilled one. 19th Hole was good for live music. Thai beach club was amazing for our Hen group.

    Vilamoura is always a fanastic place to wind down for us.

    Vilamoura is always a fanastic place to wind down for us. We do not do the overly tourist things, we eat at local restaurants tucked away in Quarteria, we hike, we swim and genuinely just unwind. Vilamoura is what you make it and we go as many times as possible!!

    Villamoura is lovely.

    Villamoura is lovely. Plenty going on there. ideal for families and couples . More up market than other parts of Portugal so prices in restaurants are higher but food was lovely. Lovely beach bar near which has music every night.

    The only positive we have taken from our stay at Mouraliz apartments was the location. It is right beside the Vilamoura marina which is a fabulous location for bars and restaurants. You can book boat trips and excursions and it is a short walk to the beach.

    We had a beautiful room with direct access to the pool from our terrace, it was amazing. To go to the Marina in Vilamoura, we could use complimentary Tuk-Tuk ride which was fun for the kids. The hotel was lovely. We will definitely come back.

    It’s so close to the marina, easy to walk there and not too far away from Vilamoura beach or Falasia beach. The pool was perfect and our apartment was great for what we wanted.
