I originally planned to stay just one night at Herdadinha, but I loved it so much I ended up staying another! The whole place is peaceful and perfect for relaxing — especially by the pool, which is surrounded by nature and tranquility. The breakfast was a real highlight, with fresh, delicious eggs straight from the farm. But what truly made my stay unforgettable were the hosts, Rui and Generosa. They welcomed me with such kindness that I immediately felt at home. We ended up having wonderful conversations, and I left feeling like I had made new friends. I can’t thank them enough for such a special experience. I’m already looking forward to going back!

The proprietor was wonderful. The common outside areas were very beautiful. The common inside area was a museum—-super interesting. The restaurant was very, very good! Fantastic! The rooms are just OK—clean and comfortable but little charm. Would definitely stay here again. Happily accomodated our bicycles in a secure room. Overall—super, just super!

Maria was a fantastic hostess. Breakfast was over the top, especially since we were the only ones staying there. She was also very helpful with suggestions for dinner and for visits to local wineries. She even called the winery for us to arrange a visit. We will definitely come back to this beautiful spot!

Our stay at Casa Az-Zagal Hotel was absolutely wonderful. The hotel itself is like a step back in time, with each room styled uniquely to reflect the charm of a traditional Portuguese home. He showed us around and shared the hotel’s history, which added so much depth to our stay. He was friendly, approachable, and clearly passionate about the place, which really set the tone for the entire experience. The hotel’s atmosphere is incredibly peaceful, and the pool area, though small, is beautifully designed - a perfect spot to relax and take in the serene surroundings. But let’s talk about the food - because it was the absolute highlight of our stay. Trust me, as someone who’s a serious foodie and has eaten at countless restaurants, this is not a compliment I give lightly: it was the best food I’ve ever had. The head chef is not just talented but also incredibly warm and passionate. Each dish was a masterpiece, rooted in traditional Portuguese flavors, and the chef took the time to explain the story behind each one. We even had a great chat and discovered he’s a Manchester fan (great taste!) Every bite was an experience, and the meals are something we’ll be dreaming about for years to come. Casa Az-Zagal is a truly special place. From the welcoming staff to the peaceful setting and the unforgettable food, it’s a stay we’ll always remember. If you’re looking for somewhere that feels both authentic and luxurious, this is it - you won’t regret it!
