There is a lot to visit in Bucharest! I would recommend House of parliament, Ceaucescu's house, Cismigiu gardens, Herastrau park. If you want to eat well and authentic Hanu lui Manuc and Caru cu bere are fabulous restaurants. If you want to see Bucharest at night buzzing of atmosphere then it has to be OLD TOWN. A nice city for 2-4 days' visit. Don't miss the Parliament guided tour and the old town restaurants. Public transport is good and inexpensive. The city is one of the cleanest capitals I have been to. Bucharest used to be a very nice city -- great architecture, calm surroundings, nice people. Not any more. The decay it has sustained is unbelievable. So many historical buildings are completely neglected, that many areas look like they've been through a war. This started during Covid and hasn't stopped since. Even the buildings that are in use are covered with graffiti; studies have shown that people tend to maintain cleanliness if an area is clean and that they litter and vandalize if they see garbage and dirt around them. Cleaning the graffiti wouldn't be very expensive, and it would bring enormous benefits. On the other hand, a lot of areas are hell-on-earth because of incessant "construction", although no real improvement results from it.
