FAQs about hotels in Singapore

Asia in a Compact Package

Clean, compact and compelling, Singapore seamlessly combines the best of Asia. Different cultures and cuisines live side by side, whilst maintaining their own identity.

Behind the bright lights of Chinatown is great value dim sum, while Little India is a sensation for the senses. Wander past the pastel-painted facades of Malay-dominated Geylang Seari for a taste of days gone by, then stop off at the Colonial-style Raffles Hotel, birthplace of the Singapore Sling cocktail.

For a retreat from the hustle and bustle, take the cable car to the sandy beaches of Sentosa, an island just south of the city centre. Also here is Universal Studios Singapore, a theme park brimming with the magic of the movies.

As you’d expect from the host of the world’s only Formula 1 night race, once night falls, Singapore is still very much alive. Its Night Safari is a zoo offering the rare chance to see nocturnal animals going about their business.

Although small enough to see on foot, Singapore has an efficient public transport system which extends as far as Singapore Changi Airport. With a choice of Singapore accommodation ranging from budget hostels to luxury hotels, Booking.com is bound to have the right choice for your holiday.

    Singapore is a wonderful city.

Singapore is a wonderful city. Many things to see and do and something for everyone. We loved the Gardens by the Bay, the Botanic Gardens, Scentosea Trail, Universal Studios, Madam Tussauds (I was really pleased about this, I was worried as I had been before when it was the old Sentosa Wax Museum I was really pleased they had kept the history of Singapore). Only thing I think that wasn't really worth the visit - was the Oceanarium previous Aquarium was much better.

The highlight was Raffles Long Bar for a Singapore Sling - gorgeous location and delicious drinks. Universal Studios Singapore was fun, too, especially if you like rollercoasters. We went off peak so didn't have to queue for too long which was good as it was very warm. Lots of great places to eat in Singapore, including La Pau Sat/Satay Street and any Hawker. Little India was a bit overwhelming as there was a lot going on, but Chinatown was lovely and quiet. Public transport is super easy and affordable - would definitely recmomend getting a travel card and just riding around the city to see the sights (especially as buses and trains are airconditioned!).

Singapore is one of the best cities in South East Asia in my...

Singapore is one of the best cities in South East Asia in my opinion and has a very diverse culture and history. Whichever area you are in you will find that getting across the city is really easy using either the cheap public transport network or Grab (the local cab booking system). The public transport is contactless and the bills from MRT can be a bit slow in coming if you use a contactless bank card ( I used a local currency card easily for the low amounts charged). You have to tap in and out of busses which is a bit retro or get charged "to the end of the journey" but they go everywhere and like London are a great way to see the city. There is a huge diversity of things to see and eat. Try the hawker centres (there are lots all over the city) for authentic food at a reasonable price. Be aware that ordering and paying for stuff can be a bit more complicated as many food and retail outlets use phone apps for ordering food and payment rather than cards or cash. This is normal in this part of the world but not as prevalent in Europe and America. Lots to do as a tourist but a few places have been spoiled by American theme park influence (Stentosa being my particular bugbear). It really is a garden city and there is a lot of green in the heart of the city. Some of the lesser known green spaces are really worth a visit but be prepared for humidity as you walk in the forested areas. It is very built up and the sun is hot (you can burn on cloudy days if you are not careful). The covered walks are very useful and cross the major highways but be aware that often they are reached via a shopping mall so are not always obvious and not all have lifts for the disabled.

The people are polite, respectful and very friendly.

The people are polite, respectful and very friendly. Transport is amazing, there's no reason to not know where you are. Streets are clean and getting about via bus and/or MRT is so quick and easy. I actually walked everywhere if it was local. Sometimes did 51k steps a day. The bus to Changi Village was great and all with a/c of course. Free WiFi is everywhere. I found no need to get a short stay sim card like I did the previous visit. Plenty of options for places to eat be it restaurants or hawker centres. I was there to take fotos for my book ('Sofa to Singapore' (out soon!) - unashamed plug!). As a guy with expensive cameras around my neck, I felt very safe at all times. Especially safe for female solo travellers at all times of day or night. Plenty of sites to see made more enjoyable by the careful city planning right down to umbrella dryers outside shops if it suddenly pours down so you don't drag the water in when you go in! Singapore is always updating itself in one form or another, so there is always something different to explore and experience on every visit. I simply love the place as a holiday destination.

This is my 3rd time staying at the Sofitel City Center hotel. I am glad that I chose your hotel for this business trip that last for a week, thanks to the help of your staff team. Over the past two decades, I have stayed at many prestigious hotels in Singapore. Nowadays, the quality of facility and hardware of 4 to 5-star hotels is not very different. What differentiates a hotel from others is the quality of the service which cannot be delivered without great staff.

Newly decorated rooms have been finished to the highest spec and impeccable taste, setting a new level for the top hotels in Singapore. Reception can be a bit chaotic but the staff were always on hand to speed everything up as much as possible. Food choice was first class.
