A beautiful small city at the foothills. It has a lot ot cafes and all prime sight seeing locations around are well reachable. Life is very quiet on the main Plaza where there are no cars circulating. There are no traffic lights on the streets. There are coffee places all around restaurants where you can have typical food from Slovakia. Banská Bistrice is a city with a Soul - people are curious and friendly (I speak a bit of Czech). Our stay has been enjoyable. There is not much around the main square, but it is a very nice and quiet city. Foreigners are rare, but the locals usually speak English and do their best to make you feel good. The restaurants we visited had okay prices and very good food. The rooms were really clean and spacious. We didn't have breakfast, only coffee in the morning which was reasonably priced. We had dinner one evening and the food was good. They had a pool, which was really nice and clean. If you have kids, it's really a perfect place to stay. They have activities like a soft play inside, a minigolf, a climbing course, table tennis and a pool.
