Capital with a Small Town Feel
Charming and compact Bratislava is the world’s only capital city bordering 2 countries – Austria and Hungary, all watered by the beautiful River Danube. South is the modern city and a peaceful forest, but the real Bratislava attractions are over Novy most (New Bridge), an impressive structure with an UFO-like pylon. The castle on a rock overlooking the Old Town offers the best views of it. The rock itself contains a Jewish cemetery and a literally underground club.
Opposite is St Martin’s Cathedral, coronation site of past Hungarian kings. The cobbled streets behind are lined with outdoor restaurants and bars. The city’s speciality is treska, a cold cod salad, washed down with white wine from the nearby Small Carpathian mountains.
The main square is Hlavne namestie, home to pastel-coloured buildings, a 14th-century town hall housing the city museum, and the Bratislava Christmas markets. Hodzovo namestie square features the Peace Earth sculpture and Baroque Grassalkovich Palace, the presidential residence guarded by the Slovak National Guard. Across the park is the Archiepiscopal Palace, seat of the government. All around are many Bratislava hotels, B&Bs and apartments available on Booking.com.
Before heading to Bratislava Airport, visit Kamzìk TV tower whose revolving restaurant and observation deck offer magnificent city views.

Subject: Formal Request for Refund of Deposit – Accommodation Reservation To Whom It May Concern, On September 26, 2025, based on a request from the property owner, I transferred a deposit of €100 for the reservation of the accommodation titled "Pleasant apartment under the Bratislava castle". The funds were sent to the owner's bank account, as evidenced by the attached documentation. Despite repeated assurances that the deposit would be refunded, the amount has not yet been credited back to my account. I hereby formally request the immediate return of the full deposit. Should this matter not be resolved within 24 hours of receipt of this notice, I will be compelled to initiate further legal steps, including contacting the relevant authorities and pursuing the claim through legal representation. The nice thing about Bratislava is that it is very close to Vienna and Bratislava has buses just about every 30 minutes from the Bratislava Main Bus Terminal to Vienna Airport. There's also train service to Vienna and other cities from the main train station. The historic city center is good to visit. It is easy to get around Bratislava by bus or tram, and ride share services like Bolt is also very affordable. It is in the city centre, Nivy bus station and big shopping mall Nivy is just across the street. Just 10-15 min walk to old town. In front of the main entrance there is a Street food open till late night. Really good and flexible communication with landlord.
