Our main goal was visiting Mala Fatra mountain range - which was an excellent trip that we enjoyed very much - and traditional village Čičmany which was also a very interesting place. But, Žilina is also interesting place with very beautiful main square and lively restaurants with good food. From less ordinary places I can recommend visit to the railway station with some old signs from the times of Czechoslovakia and glass stained windows with motifs from the traditional folk culture. The garden close to the railway station (3 minute walk) is also nice with some interesting sculptures. If I would have 1-2 more days I would rent a bike and explore the town's side streets and suburbs in search of everyday's atmosphere, interesting details, murals, local caffes ... I find it in every place that I visit and I'm sure Žilina has a plenty of them.Guest review byVanjaCroatia - 10.0

A town built to be lived in rather than for tourists.
A town built to be lived in rather than for tourists. Few landmarks, fountains or statues. However, as the regional capital it has excellent transport links to all the castles, caves, ski resorts and thermal spas you could ever hope for. Great shopping with three modern shopping malls and plenty of clubs, pubs and casinos for the evenings. There is a small zoo slightly out of town to the south. It is an old town so navigating the maze of streets may not be intuitive at first, but it is small enough that you shouldn't ever get too lost.Guest review byRyanUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Zilina is Slovakia's fifth city. To the standards of many it is rather small though. But the city centre is nice for a day. It is a bit dull though. Most bars and restaurants close at ten. The last one closes at 01h.Guest review byFrédéricBelgium

The overall convenience is quite high. However, the bathroom is placed inside the room without full separation, which causes some humidity to build up; this could be better maintained. The spa center is amazing for relaxation, and the option to choose specific visiting hours is a great bonus, as it prevents crowding. The breakfasts are varied and tasty. We started the visit at Peter's exhibition hall, which is very impressive. Rooms are incredible. My Family stayed at Roubaix, Swiss and Quebec and I would like to come again to SP Resort and see the other rooms :) Service, including the restaurant and the quality of everything that we ordered, was simply top. The restaurant behind the hotel is convenient and the two young wait staff were very helpful and friendly. There was also one woman at breakfast who was on the ball and also very nice.
