Patong beach is nice. It's a party place. Seems to be pretty safe. Lots of people selling and renting lots of things. Not a quiet getaway place but a great place to see the nightlife and it is a good place for swimming. The beach has no public bathroom facilities and most places will charge ten to twenty baht for bathroom usage.
