I think I would prefer to go a bit further to Lamai beach. 10km away. The private taxi from the airport cost 400baht to go the 2 km. Walk past the desk and locate a normal taxi. I found that the normal price for a taxi is 500baht for 10km or 600baht for 15km.Guest review bysmith - 8.0

Chaweng has something for everyone. we were 2 50+ adults with our 28 year old son and girlfriend. They enjoyed the nightlife on the strip with some friends and we enjoyed some lovely lunches and and beach days in a nice resort whilst they recovered from the nights excesses. If your expectations are cottage chic, you’re going to be happy. If it’s hotel with amenities, your reaction will be a bit surprised. I wish they provided more than just a bar of soap and one towel each. No bathmat, no hand towels, no shampoo. Air conditioning was excellent. The rooms were clean but the bathroom window didn’t close so there were spiders, but we were in a jungly atmosphere so I didn’t mind. The restaurant prices were high so we didn’t eat there. Chaweng is heaving with tourists, far too many for me.
Chaweng is heaving with tourists, far too many for me. The traffic both cars and motorbikes are gridlocked with traffic fumes when you have are inevitably stationery. This year the number of rental cars have increased hugely and it can take an hour to go a distance when several years ago only took 15 minutes. Even on a motorbike/scooter it takes a long time to get anywhere. The pavements are very uneven and I imagine difficult if you have a kids pushchair. Impossible for wheelchair users. Taxi drivers are very dishonest unless you pre book them. There are many disused shops/buildings that have fell into disrepair that give chaweng a forlorn uncared for ambience unless you are in a luxury hotel.Guest review byLouiseUnited Kingdom

I would probably stay here if it were a bit more affordable for solo travelers. The rooms are clean, the surroundings are lovely, the pool area is very inviting, perfectly located in the heart of Chaweng, and the staff is really wonderful. I highly recommend it 100%. It was very good value for money and as a family we loved the location to be able to walk out into the action! The rooms were excellent and well appointed, and the bathroom was modern and water pressure in the shower amazing (by Thai standards). Staff were friendly and hospitable.
