Istanbul is a huge city with layers upon layers of history. There's something to experience for all tastes whether you're a lover of history, food or shopping. The city is very walkable and has a well-functioning public transport system. The taxis are also quite inexpensive. Istanbul is a beautiful city with so much to see. However, it has become very expensive to visit tourist sites and have meals out. I found things in Istanbul prices than in New Zealand. The tourist sites have tripled since my last trip so I didn’t go to those this time. Also beware of the the taxi drivers as we got scammed twice then stopped taking taxis. The metro is a good way to get around Istanbul. Istanbul is a great place to visit. A lot of interesting historic places. People are nice but a turist should be all the time careful about the prices. Usually asking prices are very high, mainly at the street merchants and small boutiques. The prices for visiting the historic buildings and sites have grown heavily in the last period. If you have a Turkish friend ask him to help you with the tickets. For locals prices are at least half of the foreign tourists. A nice trip on the both sides of the Bosphorus are available with Sehir Halti line (https://sehirhatlari.istanbul/en). If you like a guided tour use private lines. Crowded city and the museums etc are overpriced.
