FAQs about hotels in Izmir

A Gorgeous City with Long History

The third largest city in Turkey, Izmir is a destination which combines harmoniously the old with the new. Rich in history and tradition, this unique place features colourful markets, historic sites, golden beaches and important museums.

The busy Kemeralti Bazaar is an exciting maze with everything a visitor could ever imagine, from leather goods to spices and local specialities. Situated near the Kemeralti, Konak Square is home to the İzmir Clock Tower, constructed in 1901.

Designed by Gustave Eiffel, the Konak Pier is today one of the most significant spots in the city. The Roman market of the Agora is another must-see ancient site, originally built by Alexander the Great in 333 BC.

Known as ‘The Velvet Castle’, the Kadifekale castle is situated on the top of the homonymous hill and offers panoramic views of the city and the Izmir Gulf. The holiday resort of Çeşme and the ancient Greek city of Ephesus are some of the places you should not miss during your stay in Izmir.

Built in the 19th century, the Alsancak Railway Station is one of the oldest in Turkey and has trains to Ankara and Bandirma. Check the Booking.com deals and choose the right hotel, guest house, resort or apartment for you.

The Old Town Agora and the Hotel - amazing.

The Old Town Agora and the Hotel - amazing. Izmir is extremely well located to head out early and explore Ephesus. We should have stayed another day and taken some boat cruises and organised a private guide to showcase the city to us... but we just ran out of time.

One of the cities you must visit once in your lifetime! Hellenic archaelogical sites in proximity! Old hellenic buildings and houses dowtown, blend with the nightlife of Smyrna! The market is the place to go and feel the vibes of the locals!

Izmir is a big bustling city.

Izmir is a big bustling city. Make sure you stay in the Alsancak area which is right by the sea and has lots of restaurants and bars. We used it as a base to visit Ephesus and Pamukkale, but to be fair it's a very long way to Pamukkale (12 hour day for three hours at Pamukkale).

This was my third trip to Izmir. It is fairly underrated.

This was my third trip to Izmir. It is fairly underrated. My best friend, who was born in Izmir, showed me the special treat (for a guy) of a Turkish razor shave, with an unexpected finish, at an unbelievably inexpensive price. Also navigated the excellent transit system (get the IzBan card) that consists of buses, trams, ferries, and commuter rail direct from the airport for a couple dollars, and any walking within the city is wonderful. Partake of the Turkish bath experience at Fes Spa, near the Esbas train station for a full body workover at less than $50, and you will feel like a different person. I did a all-day trip by minibus to Herapolis (sp?) and Pamukkale which was well worth it. Ephesus is reachable by transit, plus a short taxi trip. Local museums tell Turkish history -- visit the Ataturk Museum on the harbor, or the Turkish train museum across the street from Alsancak train station (for 1920-40s train memorabilia, it's a quick trip back 100 years!).

Much better for transit flights than Antalya or Istanbul bc...

Much better for transit flights than Antalya or Istanbul bc of metro station 5 mins walk form airport and very easy to take(you need 145 TLR cash for the ticket) and some not crazy expensive hotels right at the airport. it takes just 20 min by train to get to the center. Izmir is beautiful city with long coast for walking, with huge park, with some old districts, some new streets. many restaurants, casts. Calm people, tasty food. Izmir is a mixture of Istanbul and Antalya, i think, but more easy to stay for a short period of time to enjoy turkish culture. i had 13h day time transit long stay: i slept at the hotel a bit, then worked and walked along the sea coast, along the streets, made many photos, ate tasty food and then ran to the airport to not miss my flight ))) It is worth to visit Izmir!

If you are visiting Epesus this is you ideal place to stay. It is only a short drive to the ancient site, five minutes drive to a cute village on the hills where you can have a nice dinner and shop for local products. It is only 20 minutes drive to Kusadasi for a stroll on the beach. Plenty of private parking, nice garden and swimming pool. Lovely breakfast.

The hotel is close to the train station, so if you are arriving in Izmir by train, it is just a 10 minute walk. The hotel is also not far from the harbor and the main shopping street of Izmir. The staff inside are very accommodating and friendly. The facilities are very clean.

The staff were very kind and attentive. The location was good, very close to the bustling heart of Izmir and especially close to many clubs and bars. Hotel was exceptionally clean, marbled and very cold.
