My stay was perfect, in all possible aspects. Good location, on Nungwi road, quite easy to find, very convenient if you want to take boda boda or taxi to Nungwi beach, or other parts of island. Place is in Kendwa, thus Kendwa beach it is around 6 min walk, also very close to Kendwa main restaurant street. Staff is professional, friendly, welcoming, helpful, they made my stay lovely, also I felt safe during my stay. Food was exceptional, they take care of every detail. Room was spacious, clean, every unit has small private patio, nicely decorated, where I was able to have coffee and relax, enjoy beautiful garden. The pictures you see is exactly what you get. For me it was very important that I have good wifi, clean space, hot water, and no moldy areas in room. I would gladly repeat my stay here.

Location: Excellent beach location. Few things to do or see in Kendwa village but this didn’t bother us. Room: Spacious room for a family of 3 and spacious bad. No wardrobe but this seems to be the standard for many hotels on the island. Excellent cleaning services and extremely friendly, polite and professional staff. Reception: Excellent service. They helped us order several trips and everything was excellent. Restaurant. We paid for half board: Breakfast: Almost the same choices each day. A bit boring but Ok, with freshly baked items each day, pancakes, omelets and fruit plates.The service is without doubt good. We had to pay 2$ pr. breakfast box that doesn’t include any drinks. Food and drinks during the day: Prices are in USD and are almost the same as in other similar places. We were happy with the service. Dinner: Menu with different choices every evening. The food is tasty and the portions are big. Good and quick service. Colleagues who stayed in the neighboring The Rock came to eat lunch and dinner in The Sunset hotel restaurant because they liked better both the food and the service. When we moved to Tembo Hotel in Zanzibar city we also got something to compare with and already miss the food from The Sunset. Overall a great hotel, with beautiful gardens, spacious rooms and great people. They need only to work out a good concept for any dinner events to avoid dissatisfaction among customers who have paid for half board.

Amazing staff, nice big room, comfortable bed, super clean. Really good breakfast, nice roof top bar and restaurant (can watch the sunset and have a good sundowner with really nice view of Kendwa. Owner is onsite and a great host!!! Each room had its own terrace with 2 chairs and a table.

i have been to more than 40 countries, lots and lots of hotels, but this one is unlike any other - the jewel of this hotel is its stuff. we spent 14 days here as a family of 4 and enjoyed everything. room was quite comfortable, clean, was cleaned everyday also. it was january 7 th, the day we celebrate christmas in orthodox christian countries, and the hotel gifted us a tour to Nakupenda island, we did not expect that and were very greatful for the amazing gift. you will not regret staying here, very close to the beach and restaurants, breakfast was normal ( not a lot of variety, but you will not stay hungry), stuff - excellent, special thanks to Maryam and everyone else. if we ever go back to Zanzibar, this is the hotel we shall stay again. great value for the price

Varadero was very good stay. This was my third time there, I will definitely come back. Location is perfect, very close to beach, on the main street in village, convenient in all aspects. They also have arrangements with other hotel right on the beach, so as guest of Varadero, you can use sunbeds and umbrella on the beach. Varadero has its own restaurant, right next to it, food is very good. Also stuff is amazing (hotel and restaurant), helpful, I love to come to a place where people welcome you with smile and positive attitude. Regarding the room, it was quite big, king bed, clean, nice neighborhood, no noise. Being here for the third time, I had opportunity to stay in 3 different rooms, I never had any complain. They also have lovely garden, with siting area and lot of greenery. Thank you guys for making my stay pleasant.

    The sea and beach with super soft and white sand are absolutely fabulous and relatively clean. I got bitten by sand fleas on my legs because I spend a lot of time in the sea and walked barefoot. There is a lot of informal trade on the beach by locals trying to sell something. Maybe even more so if you are a woman walking alone.

    The location is great, just a minute from the ocean, there are a lot restaurants both expensive and very local ones, no issues with electricity, hot shower and air-con and the safe box. Card and cash payment is acceptable. Very safe to stay and walk around even at night, the owner is very kind and trustworthy. Very basic breakfast but it OK, no TV and fridge in the room, internet is breaking so often especially in the room, but it works perfectly at the balcony. It is very budget friendly and highly recommend it.

    Long walks on the beach, swimming even during low tide. Some attractions are quite far and transport is expensive. Safari Blue Tour, Swimming with dolphins and turtles, Stonetown and the Serenity Spa were awesome. The trip advisor at the hotel assisted with bookings.

    Great location on the beach, very nice and friendly staff, large rooms, beautiful grounds with many coconut palms Unfortunately, there is a lot of small plastic waste and cigarette butts on the beach near the beach chairs. Noise, pollution and danger from reckless jet ski drivers. DANGEROUS & Pollution

    Kendwa being on the north side of the island and close to...

    Kendwa being on the north side of the island and close to Nungwi is great for travellers who enjoy a festive party vibe ,there are many pubs and resorts that are always having fun functions, there are many water activerties to enjoy eg: sailing, fishing, diving, kayaking,snorkling and many more, Kendwa also bosts a sky diving club and horse riding,for those who enjoy self driving the roads are in good condition from Stone Town I would however sadjest using the back route via Tunguu excellent roads and sceanic forestation.

    In general, the hotel was okay, with an excellent location.

    In general, the hotel was okay, with an excellent location. However, there were some issues to address: The breakfast had a good variety of food, but unfortunately, warm items were cold. When I requested my sausages to be reheated, they were returned cold, accompanied by a surprised question about wanting them hot. It would be better if the staff anticipated the preference for warm breakfast items. The bed was so uncomfortable, causing back pain every morning. I tried all sides of mattress, and anyways there was a pit regardless of the position. This might be specific to only my bed, but it needs attention. The restaurant offers good food at reasonable prices, and the waiters speaks good English and are polite ( except trainees) Cleanless! Room was clean and tide, but there were several diferent bugs around, but its Africa, you just need to ask to spray your room for bugs (i asked but they never did) and you need to ask for wc paper and ask for clean towels. Water pression in the shower and hot water was very good. Unfortunately AC didnt wor for last 2 nights. I guess a gas just finished, but noone came to check on it, just excuses about low voltage. Well, when voltage was low even fridge was not working, bet when voltage restored AC and fridge worked excellent. Water got frozen in the fridge in 1h - so thats not a low voltage at all. Despite the issues, I tought I would consider to come back, but after last 2 nights struggles, I doubt about it. Particularly I would suggest a room with a sea view and small private pool, keeping in mind that perfection may not exist in every aspect, especially in a place like Zanzibar.

    The hotel is small and peaceful. Staff is friendly and welcoming. I really enjoyed having fruits and coffee for breakfast. They also have a dining room, so there is a possibility to choose something from the menu. The owners put effort to make this place nice. My room was very clean. I would highly advise everyone who visits Zanzibar for the first time to ask the hotel owners to guide you and give you some pieces of advice about the prices, restaurants, taxi and sightseeing.

    My wife and me where there three times in last two years. It tells you something about it! If you look for very nice and calm place this Hotel is the right place for you. Staff is very friendly and there for you 24 hours - the waiter is exceptional. Close to the beach, very clean place, breakfast is more than decent. Good value for fair price. Good Job Kendwa Cool and Calm Hotel. I wish you all the best. Asante sana rafiki!
