For a small, isolated town in the Nebraska sandhills, Alliance has some remarkable features. Carhenge, just three miles north, is a must-see attraction. We were there on the summer solstice; the sunset was amazing, with alignment through the upstanding cars that captured the setting sun perfectly, just like Stonehenge in England. A great rock band played as the sun set and into the night. Alliance has beautiful city parks, several fine museums, including a frontier town, and a wonderful central park fountain. Beautiful old Victorian homes line the downtown streets. Services and restaurants offer a variety of options. As a division point on the BNSF railway, the train yard is large and fascinating. We were pleasantly surprised at how interesting and culturally stimulating the town is.
