Search hotels in Athens, AL

Check in was easy. Altough we were told our rooms were right next to each other, they weren't. Their beds are the best part of Marriott. We picked this one because the pictures online showed an exceptional breakfast. Not true. Everything was undercooked making it inedible.

We stayed 3 nights. Mostly to sleep. A bit run down, the place could definitely used new carpet and a fresh coat of paint!! It is fairly clean and the oder of the cleaner used is too strong. The breakfast is good and staff are friendly.

I live here locally, so I may not be the best person to ask this question. Athens is small, but it has everything you need! It is cozy and quaint, and I think anyone would be satisfied with their stay there! And Huntsville, Madison, and Decatur neighbors us just down the road and they are packed full of attractions!

The HVAC was loud, but did work well. The eggs were poorly cooked and the biscuits as hard a rock, 1/2 the sausae was not cooked completely. The room was extremely clean, the frig was the largest I have ever seen in a Hotel Room, The bathroom was excessively large, the main part of the room was small but sufficent. I would definately stay there again, the location to resturants, and gas stations was excellent for a travler staying over one night.

The hotel was newly renovated, fresh and bright. The room was quiet even though the hotel was older, everything was new and clean. I requested a second floor room on the side away from the highway and that's what I got. It had one more bed than needed but was told they were they were shorthanded and more staff were arriving soon This room was ready and there would be no additional charge. The dining area was very nice and clean, newly furnished. breakfast was very good, better than some higher priced chains I stayed in recently where they did not have Splenda or real half and half! Yes, I would stay again and maybe bring my pup based on the reviews by pet owners as to how clean and pleasant it was for them. PS: Ask the clerk where to eat dinner. I didn't know the Cracker Barrel had gotten so bad (small portions cheaply made food).

Athens is a great city -wonderful and great catfish and BBQ. Terrific people. Comfort Inn very disappointing. Not given handicapped room as requested. Room not cleaned in 4 day stay. One older lady at front desk down right rude!!
