Bend is in a lovely area, where the mountains meet the high desert, with great hiking trails in town and the surrounding area. Also decent cultural attractions including a nice outdoor amphitheater during warm weather months. If you like the outdoors, you'll love Bend. Bend has changed a lot over the years since my first time...
Bend has changed a lot over the years since my first time there 30+ years ago. Then I would consider it the mecca of Oregon. Now, it's over populated, traffic is horrible and it's totally lost its charm. The Portland/Vancouver area has just as much to offer outdoor-wise and it's 3 hours closer to the coast, though Portland in particular has horrible traffic problems.Guest review byJamesUnited States - 10.0

I love Bend and travel there numerous times throughout the year for business and to visit family. It has grown in popularity and can be a bit overwhelming at times and prices are fairly high but the experience is amazing! Bend has a lot to offer for many interests. It’s a great place for concerts, shopping, wine tasting, restaurants and breweries. Also it offers fun on the river, hiking trails, biking, parks and more. I only had one night to stay this last time around.
I only had one night to stay this last time around. There are many things to do in Bend, but it is practically overrun. Any area of real interest you will have to conted with a lot of people and a lot of crazy traffic. Having visited on and off, and even and lived in Bend once, over the last 60 years I have seen the drastic change.. to this point it has become harder to navigate and deal with. This has been my experience wirh many small Oregon towns I remember from the past. However, I still Love Bend and will return but feel the need to plan well to avoid as much chaos as possible.Guest review byMongo46538United States
