Unique place - it includes 'Badwater Basin' - about 30 mins' drive from the Inn at Death Valley. Badwater Basin is the lowest point in the whole of North America and is 85 metres BELOW sea level. A massive salt flat stretching as far as the eye can see and very, very hot in July. Death Valley area also includes Zabriskie Point overlooking the Bad Lands of the desert. We came upon it by chance on the way to the Inn (10-15 mins up the road) and stopped off to walk the short 'stroll' in the afternoon heat to the viewpoint. Very well worth the effort!

Overall, nice Death Valley desert sightseeing environment. Loved biking 18 miles from Furnace Creek to Badwater Basin Salt Flats. Highly recommend drive to Dante's Peak to view sunset, Zabriskie Point.

The rooms at the Ranch are like good sized motel rooms, nothing fancy. What i loved most was the balcony with the rocking chairs which is why i stayed here. The only problem is they have so many families all coming here together that you couldn't get a peaceful moment while sitting on the balcony. I really think resorts should consider this as not everyone wants to hear people chabbering all day and night. The other thing is that at the Furnance Creek there were a lot of kids and parents unbelievably in pajamas in a 5 star resort for dinner. really. have a dress code even if its no pjs.

Death Valley has an interesting mix of vistas. Do not be put off by the temperature, it was 43C during our visit but being very dry heat is not overly oppressive. The only disappointment for visitors at present is Badwater Lake, owing to rainfall flooding the salt lake the salt shapes have all been washed away, hopefully they will return.

There are a lot of beautiful sites that can be seen with a short walk or hike. Be prepared to drive a lot depending on where you stay in the park. There are several restaurants to eat at and a couple of general stores. We ate dinner at two different restaurants in furnace creek and both were very good. We brought our own food for breakfast and lunch.

Really loved this oasis in the dessert!

Really loved this oasis in the dessert! The room, facilities, food and especially staff were all fantastic and would thoroughly recommend anyone going to or passing through Death Valley to include a stay here. Also, the swimming pool filled by a local spring really made this a lasting memory that must be one of my absolute highlights of Death Valley!
